A Spring Airlines flight from Tokyo to Shanghai had to turn around mid-flight after a male passenger caused a disturbance by wanting to change seats to sit next to his girlfriend.
According to Jimu News , flight number IJ005 took off from Tokyo at 7:43 p.m. on December 1 (Japan time). After nearly 2 hours, the plane suddenly turned back to the departure point and landed at Narita airport.

Mr. Tieu Dinh (Chinese), a passenger on the flight, said that a couple were not arranged to sit next to each other, so the man asked the flight attendant to help change seats.
When he was refused, the man started arguing with the flight attendant. Another passenger added that the argument lasted for nearly two hours after takeoff. Unable to resolve the issue, the flight attendant decided to call the police and request an emergency return.
As soon as the plane landed, this male passenger was taken away by Japanese police for questioning.
According to Spring Airlines' announcement, flight IJ005 was rescheduled to take off at 10:00 a.m. on December 2, and is expected to arrive in Shanghai at 12:40 p.m.
Because the plane turned around in the early morning, the airline only supported each passenger with 10,000 yen (about 1.7 million VND), but did not arrange a place to stay overnight. Therefore, many passengers were forced to lie on long chairs in the airport to wait for the next flight.
The unusual incident of a plane landing because a passenger wanted to change seats next to his girlfriend has attracted much discussion. Opinions say that the young man’s actions caused great property damage and affected many other passengers.
