Colonel Nguyen Minh Chinh, Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 5 - Phan Thiet, said: "More than 600 officers, soldiers and militia forces in the defense area have been mobilized. We have coordinated to evacuate hundreds of households from the flooded area, determined not to let people be isolated."

Units quickly deployed rescue boats, specialized vehicles and organized forces to spread to flooded areas in the communes of Ham Thang, Song Luy, Lien Huong, Luong Son, Tuy Phong, Hong Son,... where floodwaters rose rapidly.

Many families, especially the elderly and children, were in a situation where they could not escape on their own. The soldiers had to follow the water, knocking on each door, helping each person cross the stream. Hundreds of soldiers, their clothes soaked, their feet submerged in mud, still persevered, carrying the elderly on their backs, and covering each bag of belongings - the few but precious assets of the people. The images showed the spirit of determination, responsibility, and humanity of the soldiers. Not only saving people, the soldiers also helped people move machinery, vehicles, and important items out of the danger zone.

On the night of November 3, in Lap Vinh village (Ham Thuan Nam commune), continuous heavy rain caused the flood to rise rapidly, threatening dozens of households. The Defense Command of Area 4 - La Gi immediately activated its forces, sent a working group with the commune militia to coordinate with the local government to evacuate people that night. Everyone raced against time to bring people to safety.

By this morning, the water had begun to recede in many areas. The military continued to coordinate with departments, organizations and people to carry out cleaning and disinfection work. In areas where the water was still deep, the army maintained its forces on standby, ready to respond in case of an unexpected situation.

At the same time, the Coast Guard force also urgently took action. Currently, 11 border guard units on the province's coastal line are maintaining 13 teams with 153 officers and soldiers, of which 8 teams/96 comrades are directly attached to flood areas, 5 teams/57 comrades are ready to receive tasks when ordered.

Colonel Nguyen Minh Chinh added: “The water in some areas has receded, but we still maintain forces at key points, monitor water levels and support people to overcome the consequences. Our priority is to bring people's lives back to normal as soon as possible.”
In the midst of the flood, the image of soldiers wading in the water, patiently carrying people out, quietly giving up their own safety to protect the safety of the people once again deepened the tradition of "serving the people" of Uncle Ho's soldiers. They are the solid support for Lam Dong people to confidently overcome natural disasters, stabilize their lives and continue to rebuild their homeland after the storm and flood.
