Ho Chi Minh City will focus on solving traffic congestion at the end of the year.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kien Giang, the main cause of traffic congestion is the sudden increase in traffic volume at the end of the year, while traffic infrastructure has not kept up with demand. Some construction projects have narrowed the road surface, traffic accidents and slow handling of incidents have also caused prolonged congestion. In addition, the awareness of traffic law compliance of a part of the population is still limited, significantly affecting traffic capacity.

In order to reduce congestion, the Department has been coordinating with functional units to deploy many key solutions, including adjusting traffic flow, adding traffic signal systems in complex areas, speeding up construction progress to restore the road surface soon. The city has also increased the application of technology, expanded camera surveillance to promptly regulate and handle congestion points.

In addition, road management agencies will also regularly update traffic information so that people can proactively choose appropriate routes, contributing to reducing pressure on overloaded roads. The end of the year is considered a key time for transporting goods and traveling, so Ho Chi Minh City aims to ensure smooth traffic and minimize prolonged traffic jams.
