Review of 5 years of implementing the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy

The Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period affirms the Government 's strong commitment to building a generation of comprehensively developed youth, meeting the requirements of the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

The current youth population is about 20 million people (accounting for 20.1% of the total population). After 5 years of implementing the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030, ministries, branches and localities have comprehensively deployed 6 goals and 20 main targets of the Strategy. Propaganda and innovation work has been strongly promoted. Education, improving knowledge and skills, creating conditions for youth to have equal opportunities to study, research, innovate... contributing to improving the quality of vocational training and creating sustainable jobs for young people, developing high-quality young human resources. According to data from the General Statistics Office, Ministry of Finance , by March 2025, nearly 10.4 million young people had jobs in the economy (accounting for 58.8% of the youth force).

In addition, the goals of protecting, caring for and improving the health of young people; improving cultural and spiritual life; and promoting the role of young people in participating in socio- economic development and national defense are implemented synchronously and effectively.

In the period of 2021-2025, Vietnamese youth will continue to promote outstanding characteristics such as: being dynamic, creative, having ideals, ambitions, aspirations to rise up and be independent; having a sense of social responsibility, aiming for a green, healthy lifestyle... Youth are an abundant source of young human resources, playing an important role in the population structure, labor force and in the digital transformation process, promoting the country's digital economy.

Delegates contributed ideas on implementing phase 2 of the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period.

At the conference, delegates gave their opinions on implementing phase 2 of the Strategy, such as: Ministries, branches and localities need to thoroughly grasp and synchronously and effectively implement the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on youth; urgently review and propose competent authorities to adjust and supplement youth development goals and targets to ensure comprehensiveness and feasibility; prioritize the allocation of appropriate funding from the state budget to carry out tasks, projects and plans on youth; strengthen the implementation and improve the quality of inspection and evaluation of the implementation of the Strategy. Along with that, focus on raising the level of international cooperation on youth, replicating good models, creative and effective ways of doing things in the process of implementing the Strategy; honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Strategy...
