(GLO)- On December 5, in Quy Nhon Nam ward, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province organized a workshop on carbon market and domestic carbon credit mechanism. Attending the workshop were representatives of departments, branches, localities and nearly 30 enterprises and units operating in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Vu Ngoc An - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - said: Gia Lai has a lot of potential to participate in the carbon market such as: large area of ​​natural forests, playing a key role in absorbing and storing carbon; many large-scale wind and solar power projects; businesses in the province are increasingly interested in applying solutions to reduce emissions and green transformation...

However, in addition to its potential and advantages, Gia Lai still faces many difficulties and challenges when participating in the carbon market.

Mr. An said: The workshop has the role of updating the latest policies and regulations, sharing practical experiences, removing difficulties and orienting preparation steps for localities, businesses and related organizations in Gia Lai province.

From there, it creates a foundation to promote Gia Lai to proactively and effectively participate in the carbon market, actively contributing to the national goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

At the workshop, a number of experts and representatives of units presented papers on the following issues: overview of domestic and international carbon markets; roadmap for participation in the domestic carbon market; international experience and opportunities for participation in the carbon market of sectors in Gia Lai province; forest projects related to carbon credits in the province...
