Vietnam's impressive debut on the luxury tourism map.

At the Michelin Key global hotel ranking system launch ceremony on October 8th, Michelin Guide officially introduced the list of hotels to be honored in 2025, marking a historic milestone as the Michelin brand – after more than a century of defining culinary standards with its Michelin star system – expands into the hospitality sector for the first time.

Capella Hanoi is one of the first two accommodations in Vietnam to achieve a Triple Michelin Key in 2025.

After months of meticulous evaluation by an anonymous panel of judges, Vietnam has been included in the ranking system for the first time with 13 hotels and resorts honored, including 2 hotels achieving Three Michelin Keys, 3 hotels achieving Two Michelin Keys, and 8 hotels achieving One Michelin Key.

Among the honored hotels, Sun Group 's Capella Hanoi (Hanoi) is one of only two hotels in Vietnam to receive a Michelin Key – the highest rating in the system, awarded to accommodations that offer the world's best experiences. Additionally, Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery (Sa Pa, Lao Cai) was awarded a Michelin Key, recognizing its unique stay in the heart of the misty town of Sa Pa.

These two Vietnamese representatives stand out on this list, showcasing two outstanding destinations in the luxury hotel industry: a sophisticated and elegant Hanoi; and a romantic Sa Pa, rich in highland artistry. Michelin considers this achievement an impressive debut for Vietnam on the world luxury tourism map, affirming Vietnam's increasingly prominent position in the international high-end resort sector.

These hotels have been honored as "The Destination for a Trip of a Lifetime".

Created with the mission of expanding Michelin's evaluation standards from cuisine to accommodation, Michelin Key is considered the "Michelin star for the hotel industry," a new benchmark for hospitality and the hotel experience. The Michelin Guide has compiled a selection of over 7,000 hotels in more than 125 countries.

The hotels on this list were selected based on five global criteria: Hotels as gateways to exploring destinations; Excellent interior design and architecture; Quality and consistency in service, comfort, and maintenance; Consistency between experience quality and price; and Affirmation of unique identity, reflecting personality and authenticity. The criteria focus on a holistic stay experience rather than just amenities, aiming to establish a new international standard for quality hotel service.

Key hotels are categorized into three levels: One Key for exceptional stays; Two Key for outstanding stays; and Three Key – the highest level – for exceptional stays. Michelin describes Three Key hotels as “a destination for the trip of a lifetime.” For Michelin, a Key hotel is not simply a comfortable place to stay, but an emotional journey – where guests can feel the spirit, story, and people of the destination.

The Capella Hanoi space is inspired by the golden age of opera.

Capella Hanoi has been lauded by Michelin as "a hotel that recreates the spirit of opera through exquisite design, immersing guests in the cultural pulse of the city." Located less than a 5-minute walk from the Hanoi Opera House – an iconic landmark of the capital – and the Old Quarter, the hotel, designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, is an architectural masterpiece inspired by the golden age of opera, where each suite is a distinct chapter in the history and art of Hanoi in the 1920s.

With only 47 guest rooms, the hotel captivates guests with its refined service, highly personalized living spaces, and meticulous attention to detail. Since its opening, Capella Hanoi has quickly become a favorite destination for connoisseurs and travelers seeking to explore Hanoi through the lens of culture, art, and a high degree of personalization. Capella Hanoi is also the only hotel in Vietnam with three restaurants recognized by the Michelin Guide 2025, including Hibana by Koki – which has held its prestigious Michelin star for the third consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery, Sa Pa, impresses with its design that blends upscale French fashion with the culture of the Northwest highlands. Also designed by Bill Bensley, the hotel is like a vibrant painting amidst the clouds of Sa Pa, where local traditions and modernity intertwine. Guests can sip cocktails at the Absinthe bar on the 10th floor, gaze across the glass bridge connecting to the Chic restaurant to admire the town shrouded in clouds, or simply sit by the outdoor fireplace and enjoy a French-style dinner in the cool weather. The space at MGallery awakens all five senses – hearing, sight, touch, smell, and taste – making every moment of your stay an unforgettable memory.

The recognition of two Vietnamese hotels in the Michelin Key 2025 system not only affirms world-class service quality and management capabilities, but also confirms Sun Group's pioneering position in Vietnam's luxury hotel industry.

Following its culinary scene, Vietnam's luxury accommodation sector has officially been recognized by the world's most prestigious rating system, demonstrating that Vietnam not only boasts stunning landscapes and unforgettable cuisine but also has the potential to offer luxurious and unique resort experiences for international tourists.
