On October 9, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) coordinated with the online travel platform Traveloka to organize the Workshop "Developing and promoting tourist destinations through public-private partnership" in Hanoi.
The event attracted nearly 100 delegates from management agencies, associations, businesses and experts in the fields of tourism and technology. This is an important opportunity to discuss, share experiences and propose solutions to strengthen public-private cooperation, towards the goal of developing sustainable and smart tourism in Vietnam and enhancing international competitiveness.

As the state management agency for tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism continues to affirm its central position in orienting, coordinating and leading the development of the industry. The workshop “Developing and promoting tourism destinations through public-private partnership” was held to create an open discussion forum where central and local management agencies, businesses and tourism experts can exchange policies, share experiences and propose feasible and long-term public-private partnership solutions.
At the conference, speakers presented papers and shared success stories from Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, where stimulus programs and voucher projects have created positive results for both businesses and tourists.
In particular, the thematic discussion session with the participation of representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, tourism management departments of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Traveloka, Vietnam Tourism Association, and representatives of tourism businesses focused on clarifying strategic issues for the sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism industry in the coming period.
Delegates analyzed the prominent challenges posed in the context of strong growth in Vietnam tourism, from pressure on infrastructure, destination management, to the need to improve service quality and ensure harmonious development with the environment and community. At the same time, the changing trends in tourist behavior and experience needs were also emphasized, with a clear shift to green tourism products, smart tourism, tourism associated with health and indigenous culture.

During the discussion, delegates affirmed that the public-private partnership model is considered a key solution to fully exploit this potential, through mobilizing social resources, promoting innovation, applying digital technology to improve the experience for tourists and expand the competitiveness of destinations.
In addition, opinions also proposed that long-term strategies should focus on product diversification, market expansion, increased international promotion and closer connections between the government, businesses and local communities to jointly create a sustainable and comprehensive tourism ecosystem.

An important highlight of the conference was the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Traveloka and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism. This event marked a new step forward in the cooperation between the two sides, opening up many programs to promote and stimulate international tourism for the city in the fourth quarter of 2025, while affirming the increasingly important role of technology enterprises in developing the smart tourism ecosystem.
Tourism development practice shows that public-private partnership is a strategic solution to help mobilize social resources to the maximum, reduce pressure on the state budget, and at the same time encourage the active participation of the community and businesses. This is a mechanism to harmonize benefits and allocate risks, thereby forming a combined strength to enhance the competitiveness of destinations and promote the image of Vietnam to the world.
In the context of tourism being a comprehensive economic sector, closely linked to many different fields, public-private cooperation becomes especially necessary to ensure consistency and efficiency. The coordination between the State, businesses and the community not only helps diversify products, improve service quality, but also contributes to creating a sustainable tourism ecosystem, balancing economic growth, resource conservation and preserving national cultural identity.
