Social networks shared a video of tourists jostling to check in on the wooden roof of a cafe in Ta Xua (Son La). The image of the roof, jokingly called "the most miserable in the world", quickly attracted the attention of the tourism community.
Nguyen Duc Duy, owner of a coffee shop in Khe Cai village, said the roof that has "caused a stir" online actually only occupies a small area within the shop's 2,000 square meter campus.
The wooden house is 80-90 square meters wide, accounting for about 10% of the total area, built in the Mong people's house architecture and designed by himself.
According to Duy, the house is located on a piece of land with a natural slope, making the path from the ground above almost level with the roof, just under a meter away. Thanks to that, visitors can easily step onto the roof as if going through a low slope, and can fully enjoy the sea of clouds and the sunrise and sunset scene.
"When I started construction, I considered the possibility of visitors climbing onto the roof to take photos. The house frame was reinforced to ensure safety," he told Tri Thuc - Znews.

The wooden house is one of the famous check-in corners at the restaurant. |
To make moving around easier, the shop placed a small wooden board between the ground and the roof. The shop owner said the roof was sturdy enough because it was reinforced from the beginning, only the surface wood was prone to warping due to the weather.
When hearing tourists jokingly call this "the most miserable roof in Ta Xua", Duy said he was happy because he considered it a highlight of the restaurant.
Outside on the roof, the cafe still serves coffee and is a place to enjoy the view. The terrace and indoor areas are spacious, looking straight down into the valley.
The shop does not charge an entrance fee. Visitors who want to take photos can just visit, and are not required to buy drinks. Drinks cost 40,000-50,000 VND.

From here, visitors can fully enjoy the sea of clouds at sunrise or sunset in Ta Xua. |
The coffee shop has been open for nearly a year. Duy is a long-time resident of Ta Xua, currently living and working here.
"The number of customers is not too crowded at the moment, mainly people who want to stop by to take trendy photos," he said.
The restaurant is located halfway up the mountain, overlooking a wide valley. From here, visitors can observe the majestic mountain range, where clouds often roll up from the valley below, creating a feeling of the sky and earth blending together.
The open, airy space with little obstruction makes this place an ideal spot to hunt for sunrise and especially sunset.
Visitors can choose to sit on the wooden benches outdoors to watch the clouds drift like soft cotton, or sit indoors to enjoy the cozy atmosphere.
Besides the check-in roof, the restaurant also has a flower garden, a green artificial stream and many angles overlooking the sea of clouds. According to the owner, "the entire area has a view, from any position you can see the sunset and the clouds".

The 2,000 square meter cafe has many "virtual living" corners for tourists. |
Winter is the time when Ta Xua welcomes the largest number of visitors. Since the beginning of the season, local guides have been almost fully booked. The ideal time for cloud hunting is from October to April, when the weather is cold and humid, easily forming a sea of clouds.
In addition to cloud hunting, visitors to Ta Xua can experience highland life, stay at homestays, enjoy specialties and explore villages in the mist.
Traveling to Ta Xua is quite flexible. Visitors from Hanoi can go by motorbike, self-driving car, limousine straight to Ta Xua or take a sleeper bus to Bac Yen and then continue by shuttle bus. Upon arrival, many visitors choose to rent a motorbike at the homestay to move around proactively, but need a steady hand because the mountain pass is winding and steep.
