Both CAHN and Buriram United have not had the expected start to this year’s tournament. After two matches, CAHN has 3 points, with Buriram having 2 points, sharing 4th and 5th place in Group A.
The fact that only the top two teams will advance to the semi-finals makes the confrontation between the two strongest teams of last season more dramatic than ever. However, coach Mano Polking affirmed that he and his students are not afraid of playing away at the Thai.League champions' field.
“We don’t want to be the team that pays the price in this match, certainly Buriram United too. They have 2 points, we have 3 points, so neither team wants to lose. The pressure is huge for both, but perhaps they bear more because they play at home and are the number one candidate of the tournament,” coach Mano Polking shared on the tournament’s homepage.
In the second leg of the 2024/25 season final, CAHN lost to their opponents in a penalty shootout. Recalling that match, the Brazilian strategist said: “The defeat is a memory that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have met Buriram United many times, I know how strong they are. Right now, all I think about is the points. If I could meet them in the final again, it would be great, but that scenario is no longer there. This is simply an extremely difficult match and we have to be ready.”
He said the pressure of participating in many tournaments this season helped CAHN mature faster. The intense international matches forced the team to improve their physical strength, playing intensity and organization.
“We like matches like this. It helps us get stronger. In the V.League, CAHN has been doing better since I arrived. Despite the high competition schedule and some minor injuries, the team still maintains its fighting spirit. The match against Buriram United will be a decisive one,” he said.
CAHN's away match against Buriram United will take place at 7:00 p.m. on December 3 at Chang Arena.
