Quoting President Ho Chi Minh's advice on the particularly important role of sports: "Preserving democracy, building the country, creating a new life, everything requires health to be successful. Every weak citizen means the whole country is weak, every healthy citizen means the whole country is healthy. Therefore, exercising and improving health is the duty of every patriot", the Prime Minister assessed that Vietnamese sports, in recent times, have made many efforts and achieved many important achievements, not only contributing to improving health, building a healthy cultural life, but also demonstrating outstanding talent, iron will, perseverance, resilience, striving to rise up and affirming the image of an integrated, civilized Vietnam, confidently standing shoulder to shoulder with friends in the region and the world.

Recently, many localities in the Central and Central Highlands have suffered from storms and floods, causing great damage to people and property. Under the leadership of the Party, the entire political system has joined the people in promoting the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, "national love, compatriotism", making efforts to minimize damage, quickly overcome the consequences and soon stabilize people's lives and production and business activities.

Appreciating the spirit of mutual love and support, "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves" of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation in donating to support their compatriots, the Prime Minister emphasized that it is that resilient spirit and pride that flows in the "blood" of generations of Vietnamese people, and is also the strength and great source of encouragement for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes when entering the 33rd SEA Games.

Sympathizing with the host country Thailand, which is also suffering damage due to the impact of storms and floods, forcing changes in the organization of the 33rd SEA Games, the Prime Minister advised that the impact of objective conditions on sports delegations, including Vietnam, requires high adaptability, courage, discipline and a strong mentality when entering the competition.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung spoke to receive instructions from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

"The spirit of noble sports is the spirit of never giving up, overcoming difficulties, surpassing one's own limits for the sake of the flag and the uniform. That spirit is also the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people throughout the history of fighting for independence and building and developing the country, or in proactively preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. I hope and believe that in the luggage of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, the coaches and athletes participating in the SEA Games will bring that spirit of overcoming difficulties, steadfast will, and courage into each race, each match and achieve the highest results, so that the "red flag with yellow star" flies high in the regional arena, bringing glory to the Fatherland" - the Prime Minister emphasized.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, acknowledging, highly appreciating and warmly commending the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant agencies and units, the entire Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes for their careful preparation in all aspects, contributing to creating a solid foundation to achieve the highest achievements at the 33rd SEA Games, the Prime Minister requested Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung to direct the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches and athletes to focus on thoroughly grasping and implementing well the 3 tasks.

Firstly, each officer, coach and athlete must be fully aware of their responsibility to "play their best and surpass themselves". Consider each match as a final. Compete with the greatest effort and determination, break personal records and aim for regional records.

Second, promote the noble spirit of sportsmanship (Fair Play) and the beauty of Vietnamese culture: Compete fiercely, with honesty and nobility, but absolutely respect opponents, respect referees and respect the audience. Each member of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation must demonstrate the role of a "cultural ambassador", contributing to spreading the image of Vietnamese people as benevolent, peaceful, intelligent and civilized, contributing to consolidating and tightening solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the people of Southeast Asian countries.

Third, absolute compliance with discipline: The entire delegation needs to maintain discipline, order, and standard behavior; promote the spirit of solidarity and unity in will and action; strictly comply with competition rules and international standards; maintain a civilized lifestyle, and ensure absolute safety for health and security throughout the duration of the Congress.

"Millions of hearts of domestic sports fans are turning to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, coaches, and athletes, and placing all their trust and hope in you with the "red flag with a yellow star on your chest". We believe that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will promote the highest sense of responsibility, Vietnamese bravery, Vietnamese will, Vietnamese spirit, compete bravely, win gloriously, and bring glory to the Fatherland.
