The procession offering prayers at the temple gate starts from the Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street, passing through Dao Duy Tu Street - O Quan Chuong Gate - Hang Chieu Street - Hang Giay Street - Bach Ma Temple - Hang Buom Street - Ta Hien Street - Chuong Vang Theater - Hang Bac Street - Kim Ngan Temple.
The procession included over 300 people, with as many as 200 carrying offerings, mostly teenagers.
The group is divided into several sections: the money-making section, the ceremonial section, the offering section, the section representing local areas (Hue art, Phu Tho Xoan singing, Thai Nguyen Then singing, etc.), and the community.
The ceremony of paying respects to the tutelary deity and offering sacrifices to the patron saint of the craft is performed solemnly, praying to the deities, especially the tutelary deity and the patron saint of the craft at Kim Ngan communal house, for good fortune in the new year.
The delegation included many artisans of traditional crafts, and this was also an opportunity to pay tribute to the patron saint of all crafts, who is worshipped at Kim Ngan Temple, and to pray for a prosperous new year.
The ceremony of erecting the New Year's pole is performed after the completion of other rituals, with the meaning of protecting the land and preventing evil spirits from invading it, but it has a greater significance: it signals the arrival of a new spring.
These are Vietnamese rituals that have been recreated by the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board and the Vietnamese Village Temple Group, with the hope of becoming a new tradition of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
The series of activities for Tet Viet - Tet Street 2024 focuses on introducing to the people and tourists the traditional Tet celebration atmosphere of Hanoi, the traditional Tet atmosphere of the Northern Delta region, organizing activities to experience folk culture such as erecting the Tet pole, making banh chung (traditional rice cakes), as well as exchanging and introducing traditional craft products during the Tet holiday.
The program concludes after the Lunar New Year holiday to allow people to enjoy the festivities.
