VTV.vn - The city of Vladivostok, located in the Russian Far East, is an important gateway connecting Russia with Asia.

The blend of Russian and Asian cultures has created a vibrant tapestry, setting this city apart from many other Russian cities and making it an ideal destination for those who love exploration and new experiences.

The direct flight from Moscow to Vladivostok takes over eight hours. At one end of Russia, people with European faces are familiar with every Asian dish, practice martial arts, and listen to Korean music. Unlike other Russian cities, residents of Vladivostok drive on the left side of the road.

Vladivostok is notable for its East Asian character, as it is a port city receiving goods from most Asian countries. Asian culture has played a significant role in the city's life for much of its history, since its founding in 1860. The exception was during the Soviet era, when the port city was closed to foreigners.

Asian influences are evident throughout Vladivostok: in many local products, in shops and stores, on every street. This is hardly surprising, given that it's still closer to South Korea, Japan, China, and even Vietnam than to Moscow.

Professor Sokolovsky, a renowned Vietnam studies scholar from the Far Eastern Federal University, took us to the city's Children's Art Center. It's an impressive space dedicated to Eastern culture, featuring a tropical garden and a library of books on Vietnamese and other Asian arts and culture.

The influence of Asia is very evident here, both historically and currently, with young people particularly interested in Eastern culture. The development of cooperation between Russia and Asian countries under its Eastward-oriented policy in recent years has further strongly promoted this.

Vladivostok is the most Asian city in Russia and also the most European city in Asia. For residents of neighboring countries, instead of flying long distances to Moscow or Saint Petersburg, they can quickly and easily come here to explore Russian life. At one point, the Far East welcomed nearly a million foreign visitors each year, half of whom were Chinese citizens.
