Inauguration of the restoration project of Khe Cong historical relic stele house

The Khe Cong historical relic stele house was built about 100m south of Khe Cong on the east bank of Khe Hoc Chua. This is where the enemy chose to kill 5 loyal Dai Hong commune party committee members, including comrade Phan Thanh Thu (born in 1921, in Dong Phuoc village, Dai Hong commune).

Comrade Phan Thanh Thu joined the revolution in 1945, actively participated in the uprising to seize power, then became Chairman of the Provisional Revolutionary People's Committee of Hoang Phuoc village, then Head of Hoang Phuoc village. During the resistance war against the French, he was Deputy Secretary of the Farmers' Association of Dai Hong commune; at the end of 1951, he was appointed Secretary of the commune Party cell. From October 1952, he was the Standing Committee of the Farmers' Association of Dai Loc district.

During the anti-American war, he was Secretary of Dai Loc District Party Committee; Deputy Head of the Finance Department, Political Commissar of the Civil Medicine Department, Deputy Head of the Civil Affairs Department, Head of the Food Department of Quang Da Province. After the complete liberation of the South, he was Secretary of Dai Loc District Party Committee until his retirement (in 1980). In 1996, he passed away and was posthumously awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the State in 2010.

On August 9, 1999, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province issued Decision No. 2385/QD-UB on the protection of Khe Cong relic, Dai Hong commune (The decision document stated that it was Khe Tre relic, but in fact the massacre occurred in Khe Cong). This creek is about 700m west of Khe Tre, and was zoned for protection and a relic stele house was built. The People's Committee of Dai Hong commune assigned Nguyen Minh Chan Primary School to take care of the relic.

Khe Cong is a place to educate the young generation about revolutionary traditions and the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”; to demonstrate responsibility, sacred feelings and pride towards those who have contributed their efforts and blood to the country.

Previously, in July 2004, the Party Committee and people of Dai Hong commune built the Monument House in Khe Cong. Every year, the Veterans Association and the Youth Union of Dai Hong commune organize talks to educate the younger generation about the revolutionary tradition of the army and people of Dai Hong commune in general and Khe Cong in particular. The project to restore and embellish the Khe Cong Historical Monument House was carried out on an area of ^500m2 , with a total cost of 650 million VND, from the budget of Dai Loc district and Dai Hong commune.
