The project commenced in May 2024, and after just over 18 months of construction, it ensured absolute safety for hundreds of flights operating daily while the construction was underway.
The inauguration of this project at this time is particularly significant, promptly relieving the pressure of overcrowding at the largest airport gateway in the North before the peak Tet holiday and the 2026 tourist season. The project increases the total floor area of the terminal by over 200,000 m2, raising its operating capacity from 10 million to 15 million passengers per year (and potentially up to 18 million passengers per year), and enhancing operational capacity with the number of boarding gates increasing from 17 to 30 and the number of jet bridges from 14 to 27, meeting the growing demand for international air transport.

Beyond simply expanding infrastructure, the expanded T2 passenger terminal also marks a significant step in ACV's digital transformation strategy.

Instead of being implemented in isolation, for the first time, a comprehensive digital technology ecosystem has been deployed at an international terminal in Vietnam. From kiosk check-in and self-bag drop systems to automated immigration lanes and biometric security controls, everything creates a seamless "digital flow."
The "Digital Flow" initiative is marked as a groundbreaking step to fundamentally change operational methods, shifting from manual processes to automation, optimizing operational capacity, and elevating the passenger experience to be on par with advanced airports in the region and the world.

In addition to technology, the terminal space is designed with an open concept, maximizing natural light and integrating ecological green spaces. At the same time, local cultural values are subtly interwoven into the modern space, affirming Noi Bai's position as the first cultural touchpoint welcoming international friends.

As the international gateway to the capital, serving the highest-priority VIP flights in the country, Noi Bai T2 Passenger Terminal is not simply an infrastructure project, but also bears a strong imprint of sustainable architectural thinking (Green Airport).
