New aspirations for the "Pho Hien" region.

Spring arrives in Hung Yen, bringing with it the ancient charm of a land renowned as "first in the capital, second in Pho Hien." Enveloped in the colors of spring is the determination of the Party Committee, government, and people to realize their aspiration of becoming a modern industrial province; a smart, ecological city directly under the central government, with a leading advanced industrial base in the country…

A sacred "touchpoint" of traditional culture.

Amidst the bustling atmosphere of traditional craft villages on the eve of the Lunar New Year - the Year of the Horse 2026, the incense-making village in Cao residential area (Son Nam ward) stands as a sacred "touchpoint" of traditional culture. Perhaps the defining characteristic of "Cao Village Incense" is its gentle, pure fragrance, a blend of 36 to 40 traditional Chinese medicinal herbs. Each family lineage possesses its own secret "recipe" with natural ingredients such as cinnamon, sandalwood, star anise, cloves, licorice, etc., creating a distinctive "essence" of the incense.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khanh, Chairman of the Cao Hamlet Incense Village Association, said that currently, nearly 100 households in the hamlet are involved in the craft, providing regular employment for hundreds of local workers with an average income of 5-7 million VND per person per month. Notably, in 2022, the Intellectual Property Office ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) granted a certificate of registration for the collective trademark "Cao Hamlet Incense" (now Cao Hamlet) to the craft village, contributing to affirming the value, prestige, and origin of the local traditional incense products; at the same time, helping the craft village improve its competitiveness, expand its market, and develop sustainably.

Besides the fragrant incense smoke, the Tet atmosphere in Hung Yen is further enhanced by the products of the traditional confectionery village of Nguyen Xa, Dong Hung commune. Among these, the flagship product is undoubtedly the specialty "Banh Cay," commonly known as "Banh Cay Lang Nguyen." This specialty "Banh Cay" impresses with its strong aroma of aged ginger, the chewy texture of glutinous rice, the rich flavor of peanuts and sesame seeds, and the subtle sweetness of cane sugar.

To make a truly delicious and authentic Nguyen Village rice cake, the baker must go through many complex steps, requiring skill, patience, and extensive experience. Each step holds its own secrets passed down through generations. Rice cakes are often placed respectfully on ancestral altars during holidays, festivals, and memorial services, expressing reverence and gratitude to one's ancestors.

Faced with increasingly demanding market requirements and competition from modern confectionery brands, manufacturers have proactively innovated their thinking, from raw materials to production organization and product distribution. In particular, many establishments have boldly invested billions of dong in machinery and automated packaging lines. Along with this, products have been improved in terms of design and size, becoming more compact and attractive, suitable as gifts for Tet (Lunar New Year), and are effectively sold through both traditional channels and social media and e-commerce platforms, contributing to expanding the consumer market…

This is just one of two typical examples of traditional craft villages in Hung Yen during the Lunar New Year season. The province currently has 177 craft villages, of which 160 have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee, with over 67,000 production facilities and employing over 87,000 workers. By 2025, total revenue from craft village activities is projected to exceed 11,800 billion VND. To date, 34 craft villages have been granted collective trademark and certification trademark protection; 49 products from these villages have participated in the OCOP product ranking assessment. Of these, 31 products have achieved 3-star rating and 18 products have achieved 4-star rating…

The first "sweet fruit"

Along with traditional craft villages, these days, throughout the province, industrial zones, clusters, and many production and business establishments, the atmosphere is one of urgent and vibrant labor. Production lines operate continuously, and workers start their shifts with a high sense of responsibility, determined to complete orders and plans from the very first days and months. This competitive spirit creates momentum for a year of efficient production, while also demonstrating the confidence and unity of the business community in a new era of national progress.

The enthusiastic work ethic has added vibrant colors to the overall socio-economic landscape of Hung Yen province on the eve of the Lunar New Year of the Horse. It can be affirmed that 2025 will be a special year for Hung Yen province with many important political events such as: the merger of Hung Yen and Thai Binh provinces, opening up new scale and development opportunities; the completion of the reorganization and stabilization of the organizational structure and operation of the two-tiered local government; and the successful organization of the First Hung Yen Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030...

Notably, state budget revenue in the province exceeded VND 100,000 billion, reaching over 180% of the annual forecast...

With the initial "sweet fruits" following the merger and the organization of a two-tiered local government, entering 2026, with the strong determination of the entire political system, Hung Yen has developed a growth scenario and set very high targets. Notably, the growth rate of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is targeted at 10-10.5%.

Along with that, a roadmap with key, groundbreaking solutions has been outlined. In particular, the development and implementation of the plan to transform Hung Yen into a modern industrial province, ranking among the leading provinces nationwide in the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045...

Striving to become the most livable place in the Red River Delta.

Harmonizing with the joy of nature and the land, as we enter 2026 with a new development space, Hung Yen confidently joins the rest of the country in a new era, soon realizing its aspiration to become a modern industrial province by 2035, meeting the criteria of a Class I urban area. By 2045, Hung Yen aims to be a smart, ecological city directly under the central government; possessing a modern industrial base among the leading in the country; becoming a strong maritime economic center in the North; rich in cultural identity, fully promoting and embodying the core values of the Red River Delta culture...

On the journey to realizing the aspiration for development, alongside the prerequisites and potential for growth, challenges are unavoidable. Nguyen Huu Nghia, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, once affirmed: without burning aspirations, grand dreams, and decisive action, prosperous development will never be achieved.

With that strong belief and aspiration, the people can fully trust that Hung Yen will soon realize its development aspirations, as General Secretary To Lam has entrusted and believed in the Party Committee, government, and people of Hung Yen. That is, by 2050, Hung Yen will become a centrally-governed city; a smart, prosperous, beautiful, civilized, and culturally rich city, fully promoting the core values of the ancient Pho Hien culture; a livable place in the Red River Delta, a center connecting localities in the region and the whole country.
