Construction begins on the Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant Project.

(CTO) - The Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant project has a total designed capacity of 350MW with 56 turbines, and a total investment of approximately 14,500 billion VND. The project is being built on an area of ​​over 1,223 hectares and is expected to be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2028.

On the morning of May 19th, in Vinh Chau ward, the People's Committee of Can Tho City, in coordination with Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company, solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant Project (including the 220kV substation and connecting transmission lines). This is a key project in the field of renewable energy, implemented on the occasion of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Lam Van Man, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Mr. Tran Van Lau, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee; Mr. Tran Van Huyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee; representatives from various departments, agencies, and local authorities, along with numerous businesses, investors, and residents in the area.

The Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant project, invested by Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company, has a total designed capacity of 350MW with 56 turbines, each with a capacity of 6.25 MW; the total investment is approximately 14,500 billion VND. The project is being built on an area of ​​over 1,223 hectares, including alluvial land and coastal waters. The components being commenced this time include a 220kV substation with a capacity of 4x100 MVA and a 2.7km connecting transmission line. According to the plan, the project will be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2028.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, delivered a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen emphasized that, according to the plan until 2030, Can Tho City has been approved for 56 power generation projects with a total capacity of over 9,154 MW, including 30 wind power projects with a total capacity of approximately 2,785 MW. To date, the city has granted investment approval for 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,428 MW, demonstrating a strong determination in shifting the energy structure towards green and sustainable development. The Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant project is a significant undertaking in the strategy for developing renewable energy, promoting green growth, sustainable energy transition, and fulfilling Vietnam's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Upon completion, the project is expected to supply approximately 1,174 GWh of clean electricity annually to the national grid, contributing to energy security, creating jobs, increasing budget revenue, and promoting socio -economic development in the region.

The delegates pressed the button to officially launch the project.

Mr. Le Tuan Dung, General Director of Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company, pledged to focus maximum resources, apply modern technology, and ensure quality, progress, and safety in construction. He also expressed his hope that relevant departments, agencies, and localities would continue to cooperate, promptly resolve difficulties, and create the most favorable conditions for the project to be implemented according to plan.

Representatives of Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company handed over 1 billion VND to the Social Welfare Fund for Vinh Chau ward.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, representatives of the investor presented 1 billion VND to the Social Welfare Fund of Vinh Chau ward, aiming to contribute to the local efforts in improving the lives of the people.
