Speaking at the press conference, Director of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet emphasized that after 8 seasons, the Victory Cup has been truly successful and increasingly affirmed its value as a leading national sports award.
"Those are the values and achievements of the Victory Cup that have been proven through 8 seasons with highlights such as: The special way of honoring, as the "Oscar of Vietnamese sports" and has really done that. The award is an important goal and motivation to strive for each year for coaches and athletes, with great significance both spiritually and materially.
At the same time, it is a big event with an award gala like a festival, a special spring gift awaited at the end of each year for Vietnamese sports people and sports fans nationwide," Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet emphasized.
He also affirmed that as one of the three co-organizing units, the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department always identifies the Victory Cup as an important annual event and activity, and also a typical, lively and effective model of sports socialization.
The Victory Cup – “Oscar of Vietnamese sports” – is an annual award jointly organized by Vietnam Cable Television Corporation (VTVcab), Viet Digital Sports Content and Trading Joint Stock Company (Vietcontent) and the Vietnam Sports Department, with the mission of honoring the values, achievements and noble sports spirit of Vietnam.
Since its first season in 2015, the Victory Cup has become the most prestigious award in the Vietnamese sports community. Over the past decade, the award has recognized more than 100 outstanding faces - from sports legends to young stars reaching the continental and world level.
Names such as Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Do Hung Dung, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Hoang Xuan Vinh, Nguyen Quang Hai… have many times stepped onto the podium of the Victory Cup, becoming a “memory museum” of Vietnamese sports for a decade.
The 2025 Victory Cup continues to maintain 11 voting categories, including the 3 biggest categories of Vietnamese sports: Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year.
In addition, there are also categories: Coach of the year; Young athlete of the year; Most favorite athlete; Outstanding disabled sports athlete of the year; Most favorite athlete; Outstanding disabled sports athlete of the year; Impressive sports images and moments of the year...
With 11 categories, the award has been able to cover all criteria to most comprehensively and fully honor outstanding individuals and groups, outstanding, vibrant, impressive and colorful activities of Vietnamese sports. In 2025, with brilliant marks such as the Asian gold medal of the men's football team, or the shining performance of Vietnamese swimming with the gold medal of Nguyen Huy Hoang and ending with a carefully prepared and promisingly explosive 33rd SEA Games.
The record prize money continues to be maintained by the Organizing Committee with a total of 750 million VND for 11 categories. Of which, the highest prize, 100 million VND, is for individuals and groups winning prizes in 3 categories: Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year.
Notably, based on a 10-year series of documents associated with the competitive spirit of the Victory Cup, the Organizing Committee decided to "finalize" the list of award nominations and conduct voting after the 33rd SEA Games (from December 20, 2025) - the biggest international event of the year for Vietnamese sports to select the most outstanding and deserving individuals and groups.
The opportunity for recognition is open, aiming to select outstanding faces, inspiring millions of fans nationwide, and is also a milestone marking more than 10 years of accompanying athletes, coaches and sports press on a journey of many efforts, standards and emotions.
At today's announcement ceremony, the Organizing Committee also awarded the Outstanding Athlete Overcoming Difficulties award to disabled swimmer Pham Tuan Hung. This is a prize worth 25 million VND, taken from the award of the category of Images, Impressive Moments of the Year 2024 Victory Cup (50% awarded to the author and 50% awarded to the case of overcoming difficulties).
Losing his legs in an accident at the age of 2, moving entirely with his hands, but with extraordinary determination, Tuan Hung not only became a swimmer and soccer player but also inspired many people to overcome in life.
In less than 2 years of swimming training, in 2022, the Quang Ninh boy won a silver medal at the national competition, and after a year, he won a gold medal, entering the top list of participants in the ASEAN Para Games where he excellently ranked 4th. Recently, Hung entered the list of 10 athletes who qualified to participate in the world championship.
Along with his sports journey, the 2002-born boy is also an energetic content creator with over 1 million followers on TikTok and over 700,000 followers. Tuan Hung's story once again affirms the profound humanistic value that the Victory Cup has pursued for over a decade - "Honoring those who inspire".
In its 10th year, the 2025 Victory Cup will be accompanied by the sponsor Dynamic. The award ceremony is expected to take place in early February 2026 and will be broadcast live on the Victory Cup fanpage, sports TV channels and online platforms of VTVcab, and social media channels webthethao.vn of Vietcontent.
