The play is set during the Tran Dynasty, where Tran Hung Dao chose a location for his army's granary to fight against the Mongol invaders. The fertile Nam Xang region, the center of the delta, was chosen by Hung Dao Dai Vuong, and the village of Mieu, with its elevated mound surrounded by rivers, was the ideal site for the granary. The play also depicts the protection of the granary by the Grand Princess, the Tran Dynasty's army and people, and especially the villagers of Mieu, Nam Xang.
Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew at the rehearsal for the traditional Vietnamese opera (chèo), People's Artist Hoang Quynh Mai expressed her hope that this would be an impressive production with a unique flavor of Ha Nam.
