Departure of the Trade Union Train - Spring 2026

On the morning of February 10th (the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month), at Saigon Station, the "Trade Union Train - Spring 2026" officially departed, taking nearly 3,000 union members and workers in difficult circumstances back to their hometowns to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

The program, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, aims to support travel expenses and boost morale so that workers can confidently celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with their families after a year of working far from home.

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, currently more than 60% of the workforce in the city are migrant workers from other provinces, facing many difficulties regarding living expenses, housing, and savings. Therefore, taking care of union members and workers during Tet (Lunar New Year) is always considered a top priority by the trade union organization, proactively mobilizing all resources to implement it on a large scale.

In particular, the "Trade Union Train - Spring" program, initiated from the practical efforts of the City Trade Union in caring for workers, has spread widely throughout the country with the cooperation of the Vietnam Railway Corporation . These meaningful activities are not limited to the current number but are continuing to expand in the coming years, with the spirit of "leaving no one behind."

This year, with the support of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , the program will award nearly 3,000 round-trip train tickets along with many practical Tet gifts to outstanding union members and workers selected from the grassroots level. Outbound trains will depart from February 10th to 16th, 2026; return trains will pick up workers returning to work from February 20th to March 1st, 2026.

For many workers, this is a great joy, as they haven't had the opportunity to return home for Tet (Lunar New Year) for many years. The program helps alleviate the financial burden, allowing them to celebrate Tet with their families in a more complete and warm way. Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan also expressed his appreciation for the persistent and silent contributions of the workers from various provinces and cities who have chosen Ho Chi Minh City as their place of residence and work, making a significant contribution to the city's development; he hoped that the workers would abide by the regulations throughout their journey, have a joyful and safe Tet, and return soon with renewed spirit and enthusiasm.

For nearly 10 years, Nguyen Thi Bich's family, originally from Ha Tinh province, hasn't been able to return home due to difficult living conditions. The combined wages of the two factory workers barely cover rent, the education of their two young children, and living expenses. Ms. Bich said that since receiving the return tickets, the whole family has been overjoyed. Both her and her husband's families back home are happy because the cost of the trip for four people – her, her husband, and two children – is considerable.

"Now I just hope to be home soon to visit my parents and enjoy the Tet reunion atmosphere after so many years of separation due to difficult economic circumstances," Ms. Bich shared.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the City's Labor Union plans to provide support to approximately 350,000 union members and workers through various forms such as assisting with train, bus, and plane tickets, visiting and giving gifts, and caring for children of union members and workers in difficult circumstances, children of workers affected by serious illnesses, work accidents, or natural disasters.

Notably, this year, the City's Trade Union is stepping up digital transformation in its Tet holiday support efforts, disbursing support through bank accounts. This contributes to reducing organizational costs, ensuring speed and transparency, and helping resources reach workers directly. From there, it continues to expand the scope of support, especially in businesses facing difficulties, delayed bonuses, or unpaid year-end wages.
