On May 23, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police issued decisions to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Dang Van Nhat Hoang (residing in An Hai Tay Ward), Ton Hoang Thai Quy (both 16 years old, residing in Man Thai Ward), Pham Bao Hung, Ho Ngoc Chung (both 17 years old, both residing in Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) for murder.
According to the investigation, Hoang and Quoc Hung (unknown background) both had a relationship with a girl. When both discovered that they had a rival, they became jealous and arranged to fight to resolve the conflict on the evening of August 19, 2022 at an empty lot on Nguyen Sinh Sac Street (Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City).
Hoang invited Quy, Bao Hung, Chung and about 15 teenagers aged 16-17 living in Nai Hien Dong, An Hai Bac, and Man Thai wards (Son Tra District) to bring weapons, including a 3-pronged spear over 2 meters long, a 2-pronged spear about 1.5 meters long, a cat knife, a fire extinguisher, a pig-slaughtering knife about 1.5 meters long, and a homemade knife about 1 meter long.
The group gathered under Thuan Phuoc bridge (Hai Chau district side), bought gasoline and poured it into glass bottles to create petrol bombs.
4 defendants were charged with murder
Quoc Hung's group mobilized Tran Danh Quyen, Truong Cong Quoc (both 17 years old, living in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward) and 3 others (unknown background) carrying iron rods about 2 meters long, moving to Nguyen Sinh Sac Street to lie in ambush.
At about 2:00 a.m. on August 20, 2022, Hoang's group arrived at the intersection of Nguyen Sinh Sac - Kinh Duong Vuong and was ambushed by Hung, Quoc, Quyen and 3 others.
However, because Hoang's group was larger, they then took over. Hung was lucky to escape. Quoc drove Quyen along Kinh Duong Vuong street to Tran Dinh Tri street, but was caught by Hoang's group.
Hoang's group approached with pig-stabbing knives and slashed down. Quyen raised his left hand to block but was hit by the blade, causing injury. Hoang's group's thugs continued to slash Quyen's head and Quoc's hands many more times.
Quoc still tried to take Quyen and run towards Nguyen Chanh street. Hoang's group chased and slashed Quoc, causing him to lose control of the wheel, drive onto the sidewalk, and crash the car into a fence and fall off.
Seeing Quoc and Quyen unconscious, the group left; people took the two victims to Da Nang Hospital for emergency treatment.
Currently, Da Nang City Police continue to expand the investigation into the murder case, searching for the remaining suspects in this group of thugs.
