The Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Public Security has issued a decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Nguyen Khac Hung (born in 1973, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Huar commune, Buon Don district) to investigate his abuse of power while performing his official duties.
According to initial investigations, during the period of 2008-2010, based on the land needs of the local people, the People's Committee of Ea Huar commune, then chaired by Hung, submitted a proposal to the People's Committee of Buon Don district to approve a plan to expand the resettlement area for 196 households in Jang Pong hamlet (Ea Huar commune), with a total planned area of 30 hectares. Of these, 97 households were poor ethnic minority people lacking land, and 99 households had land located in flood-prone areas.

On October 5, 2010, the People's Committee of Buon Don District issued a decision approving and assigning responsibility to the People's Committee of Ea Huar Commune to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to implement land allocation to the people, ensuring that it was done correctly and in accordance with the approved plan. However, during the implementation process, Hung arbitrarily adjusted the beneficiaries and allocated land to households outside the approved land use plan.
Accordingly, from 2010 to 2012, Hung established Council 147, organized land allocation, lotteries, and land distribution to 129 households not on the list approved by the District People's Committee. Among these households were many officials, civil servants, and employees, and in some cases, Hung's relatives.
Hung's abuse of power caused losses to the State totaling more than 2.3 billion VND, based on the valuation at the time of 2010.
The case is currently being further investigated by the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to determine the responsibility of the members of the 147 Council and other related individuals in accordance with the law.
