Bodyguards and the abuse of power

The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency has just initiated a criminal case related to a group of security guards clearing the way for a wedding procession in Thanh Hoa City. This incident has caused a public uproar over the past few days.

According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, the investigative police are currently holding five suspects, all employees of Security Guard Company, in custody for investigation into the act of "disturbing public order".

The group of security guards who stood blocking traffic to allow the wedding procession to pass have been charged.

These are the people wearing security guard uniforms who arbitrarily directed traffic and blocked other vehicles to serve a wedding procession on Le Loi Boulevard in Thanh Hoa City on the afternoon of November 24th.

After the incident was recorded and posted on social media, the police verified the information and summoned the individuals involved for questioning.

According to regulations, only authorized personnel such as traffic police or forces assigned to regulate traffic in construction areas, congestion zones, ferry terminals, or road bridges are permitted to regulate traffic.

Arbitrarily regulating traffic without authority is a violation of the law. The law also stipulates that if cultural activities or festivals are to be organized on public roads, written approval from the competent authority is required.

If traffic diversion or road closures are necessary on certain routes, they must be announced by the competent authority, and the operating unit must publish the announcement in the mass media and implement safety measures.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned security guards are merely individuals working for the company, for their own purposes, and have absolutely no authority to direct traffic, control vehicles, or engage in any other actions that interfere with road traffic safety.

Clearly, this group's act of arbitrarily diverting traffic demonstrates a blatant disregard for the law.

The aforementioned actions also seriously violated road traffic safety regulations, causing traffic congestion and disruption to the normal operations of other agencies, organizations, and individuals. Fortunately, no accident occurred; otherwise, who knows what the consequences could have been.

Therefore, it is entirely justified for the authorities to consider holding this group accountable for disturbing public order.

In addition to those who directly committed the act, authorities will also verify and clarify whether or not there was any direction, incitement, or coercion involved in the security guards' actions.

Would the security team dare to clear the way on their own without the direction and approval of their superiors, as well as a request from the client?

Did these security guards understand the law but were still forced to clear the way, or were they completely unable to distinguish between legal and illegal actions?

These are questions that need proper answers and also serve as a harsh lesson for security guards and bodyguards: if a company assigns them to perform tasks that violate the law, they must resolutely refuse, otherwise they risk facing consequences.

For a long time, there have been numerous scandals involving security guards and bodyguards abusing their power, even assaulting people with serious consequences, and using military weapons to intimidate and show off.

This is also directly related to the recruitment and training activities of many security companies, which lack professionalism and legal knowledge.

And once they lack legal knowledge, the line between permitted and prohibited actions becomes blurred, making it inevitable that they will face legal consequences.
