The special prosecutors are investigating Mr Yoon's brief attempt to impose martial law in South Korea in December 2024.

According to Yonhap, the prosecutors indicted Mr. Yoon for aiding the enemy on charges that he dispatched drones to North Korea last year. He is accused of ordering provocations aimed at provoking retaliation from Pyongyang and using it as a pretext to declare martial law.
Mr. Yoon's decision also resulted in additional charges of abuse of power.
"Mr. Yoon tried to provoke a military conflict between the two Koreas to declare martial law," a prosecutor spokesman told a press conference, Reuters news agency reported.
The spokesman also cited evidence found on a military official's phone, which included several terms believed to indicate potential provocations against North Korea, such as "drone" and "preemptive strike".
According to this person, former Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyun and former Military Intelligence Director Yeo In Hyung planned to incite a North Korean attack on South Korea.
Mr. Kim Yong Hyun and Mr. Yeo In Hyung were also indicted on additional charges similar to Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol.
Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol was officially removed from the presidency in April this year.
