Korea's Next Top Model Kim Sung Chan passes away

Korean model Kim Sung Chan, known for her appearance on Korea's Next Top Model 5, passed away at the age of 35 after a long battle with leukemia.

On November 7, Maeil Kyungjae newspaper reported that model Kim Sung Chan - a familiar face from Korea's Next Top Model 5 - passed away at the age of 35 due to a rare blood cancer.

'I will not fall'

On his personal page, Kim Sung Chan's brother sadly announced: "My brother has left us after more than two years of fighting cancer.

Since I cannot contact all my acquaintances, I am writing this to inform them. I hope everyone will send her sincere prayers and comfort."

Previously, Kim Sung Chan had publicly announced his health condition on his personal page. He said he discovered abnormalities in his body so he went to the hospital for a check-up and was later diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (a type of cancer related to the body's lymphatic system).

Throughout the treatment process, he always maintained an optimistic spirit, many times sharing strong lines such as: "I will not fall"; "I am reborn, stronger"...

Despite his efforts, he passed away after two years of fighting the terrible disease, leaving behind deep sorrow for his relatives, friends and fans.

After the sad news was announced, many Korean colleagues and artists sent their condolences. Former Rainbow member No Eul wrote: "Sung Chan, I hope you are no longer in pain and rest in peace."

Model Joo Won Dae and actor Lee Jae Sung also expressed their condolences: "May he rest in peace."

Kim Sung Chan started his modeling career in 2013 through the S/S Unbounded AWE runway and quickly gained attention for his confident and individual style.

In 2014, he became famous when he participated in OnStyle 's Korea's Next Top Model 5: Guys & Girls and left a strong impression on the tough judges such as supermodel Lee Hye Jung and Kim Won Jung.

In 2019, Kim Sung Chan stepped into the international market when he appeared in the Youser 2020 S/S show at Milan Fashion Week. He also participated in advertising campaigns for many major brands and maintained his personal YouTube channel called Sungnan TV.
