This year’s Vietnam Film Festival recorded a record number of entries with 203 works including 30 feature films, 120 documentaries, 21 scientific films and 32 animations. The selection committee selected 16 feature films, 36 documentaries, 14 scientific films and 21 animations to compete for the competition film award.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, the number of films selected for this year's competition is kept below 50% of the total number of films submitted. This limit is to ensure that the most outstanding and quintessential works are selected. The selection criteria are works that keep pace with the times, demonstrate the country's development aspirations and comprehensive vision.
Sustainable development and international integration are the core content of Vietnamese cinema as well as the main theme of this year's film festival. Workshops within the framework of the festival will focus on in-depth discussions on these issues.
