"Father's Fairy Tale" also speaks of a common reality in many Vietnamese families: The disconnect between generations, especially between fathers and sons. Sometimes fathers tend to impose their authority in educating and guiding their children, while children tend to "rebel" and want to escape from their father's shadow, leading to a difference in emotions between the two sides.
Children in adolescence are often busy asserting themselves, pursuing their own desires, and often forget that their fathers are getting older and weaker, and their hearts are still filled with thoughts that are difficult to express. The delay in connecting the two sides can cause unnecessary emotional damage, especially when we do not know how long our parents and loved ones will be with us...

Singer Khoi Minh shared that the song and MV were created with the hope of awakening the interest, the need to connect, and express feelings between generations in the family. So that parents and children can spend more meaningful time together, thereby understanding each other better. In addition, Fairy Tales about Fathers can also comfort and soothe those who have experienced the loss of a loved one in the family.
The song was written with a sweet yet heartbreaking melody on a slow-rock rhythm, arranged by young musician Nguyen Tai Duc (despite being blind from birth, he graduated with honors from the Piano Jazz Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music); veteran musician, producer, and leading guitarist Tran Thanh Phuong participated in the mix, production consultation, and had a classy, emotional solo performance in the arrangement.
The MV uses unique images, costumes, acting and choreography of the “Clowning” genre in Cheo. Through that, it is also hoped to contribute to arousing interest in the ancient heritage of our ancestors in the audience, especially the young generation, in the context that young people are increasingly paying attention to learning the quintessence of traditional culture.
Director Ha Do (Do Thanh Ha) won the Golden Kite Award (voted by the Jury) for the category of Best Short Film; Attended the European Film Festival in Hungary twice, marking the presence of the work in the international arena; Top 8 Best Projects at the Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) with the script Nguoi khoc hien, scheduled to start filming in 2026.

Notably, director Ha Do's father, artist Do Thanh Xuan, also participated in the MV in the role of an elderly father. He used to be a typical Tuong and Cheo actor of Bac Giang province, specializing in clown roles. Other actors such as Nguyen An (the role of the father when he was young), Hung Cuong (the role of the eldest son) are all versatile artists. Nguyen An is a final year student of the Faculty of Traditional Drama - Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema. Hung Cuong is a student of the Faculty of Drama - Cinema, Central University of Art Education. Thanh Hai, a 4th grader in the role of the youngest son, is a promising student of the Be Singer Arts Center, Hanoi.
Khoi Minh, also known as journalist Nguyen Manh Ha, is a long-time writer in the field of culture and arts. He won the 1999-2001 Century Vision literary writing contest organized by Tien Phong newspaper. In 2022, he published the poetry collection The Legend of God (Thanh Nien Publishing House).
With the stage name Khoi Minh, he has been asserting himself in the music field with his debut album Collection 09 , having released a number of self-composed songs/MVs such as Mother Earth , Endless Clouds or Hopeful Love Words - a composition by Do Bao. He is currently working on his second studio album including songs by musician Trinh Cong Son, expected to be released by Thoi Dai Records in 2025. Khoi Minh and the Dragon Plus band he founded have performed at the Ho Do International Music Festival - Ho Chi Minh City 2022, Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023 and 2024.
Khoi Minh shared: “When I write about a father, of course my father is the first prototype. But a song in general cannot just tell a single personal story. Because father-child relationships will have common denominators, I believe that listeners will more or less see their own stories and feelings in this song.

Of course, the song I wrote first made me emotional many times. The reason for the emotion is generally the same because I still live in my story. In addition, when listening to the original arrangement by Nguyen Tai Duc, then the official arrangement with the divine playing of Tran Thanh Phuong, the emotions surged a few more times. I felt the affection my colleagues put into each musical phrase, each note... These are close colleagues who have worked closely with me in many roles in the songs I have published such as Mother Earth , The Legend of God , Endless Clouds or Words of Love We Hope (Do Bao)...
When I saw the director's draft of the MV, I was moved again, but because the story the director told was based on my song. The story in the MV has something in common with the father-son relationship of the director and me, and the character we imagined together for this MV.
This time, my emotions, in addition to personal feelings, are similar to those of an audience enjoying a work of art. I am also moved because from here, my song begins to have other lives, other interpretations, and associations. I sincerely thank the music production team, director Ha Do, the actors and the film crew for giving wings to this seemingly private composition. I would be honored if you - the audience - also see the image of your beloved father in the song and MV Fairy Tale About Father".
