Talking to Tien Phong reporter about the public opinion that there was a repair affecting the glass structure, the representative of Trung Liet Ward People's Committee said that the glass is part of the glass wall surrounding the building, the original glass from when the investor built it. The local side also confirmed that when the coffee shop was rented, it was only for interior decoration, no major repairs. After the incident occurred, the ward police were present to make a record, examine the scene and send a report to the district police.

Lawyer Diep Nang Binh, Head of Tinh Thong Luat Law Office (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association) said that in case the incident is determined to be due to objective causes, not caused by the construction unit, building management and use, and there is no violation of construction regulations, then there will be no criminal prosecution. Compensation for damages to the victims is applied according to Article 605 of the 2015 Civil Code.

Accordingly, the owner, possessor, person assigned to manage and use the building, specifically The Coffee House in this case, will have to compensate for damages caused by the incident to the victims.

In addition, if the contractor or installer is determined to be at fault in the incident, he/she must also jointly compensate the victim for damages according to the provisions of Article 585 of the 2015 Civil Code, and must fully and promptly compensate for actual damages.

However, to determine the exact legal responsibility of the parties in this incident, it is still necessary to rely on the investigation conclusion of the competent authorities after the investigation process is completed.
