New public art space in the heart of the city.

On the afternoon of January 25th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports held the inauguration ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Street on Dong Khoi Street and the Chi Lang Art Photography Park; simultaneously launching the Contemporary Art Exhibition House at 158 ​​Dong Khoi Street, opening a new public art space in the heart of the city.

Attending the ceremony were: Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, City Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Tran The Thuan, City Party Committee member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; along with representatives from various departments, agencies, professional associations, and a large number of artists and photographers.

The Ho Chi Minh City Photography Street is envisioned as an outdoor public art space where photography is present in urban life, telling stories about the city's history, culture, people, and development through visual language. The project contributes to concretizing the policy of innovating exhibition formats in public spaces; and is also linked to Ho Chi Minh City's strategy for developing the cultural industry and cultural tourism .

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized: The Ho Chi Minh City Photography Street is a project bearing the mark of creativity, contributing to enriching the urban landscape, creating a modern cultural and artistic experience space, commensurate with the stature of this special city.

Immediately after the inauguration ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports opened a photo exhibition with the theme "Steadfast under the Party Flag - Radiant City of Uncle Ho," displaying 88 images at Chi Lang Park and the Dong Khoi - Nguyen Du route, along with 40 images in the Dong Khoi - Ly Tu Trong area. The works reflect the typical achievements of Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of politics , economics, culture, society, national defense - security, and foreign affairs.

The Dong Khoi Street (the section from Nguyen Du to Le Thanh Ton) is the central axis of the Photography Street, forming a system of permanent and continuous outdoor photo exhibitions. The area at the corner of Dong Khoi and Ly Tu Trong focuses on showcasing photo collections about political events, major holidays, and outstanding achievements in the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country, effectively serving the purpose of visual propaganda and promotion.

Meanwhile, the corner of Dong Khoi and Nguyen Du streets serves as a combined exhibition space, fulfilling both political and current affairs objectives while showcasing the culture, people, urban life, tourism, architecture, and artistic activities of Ho Chi Minh City, portraying it as a dynamic, creative, friendly, and distinctive city.

Chi Lang Art Photography Park - a new cultural meeting point.

Chi Lang Art Photography Park is organized into several functional areas, including: an exhibition area, an event area, a social area, a fountain area with a photographic lens symbol, a central grassy hill area, and a system of symbols and artistic check-in points.

The park space serves as both a venue for displaying art photographs and outdoor community art installations, and a cultural hub for interaction between artists, photographers, and the public, helping to bring art closer to the daily lives of residents and tourists.

According to Mr. Doan Hoai Trung, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Street is the first large-scale, comprehensive photography project in Vietnam, approaching international standards; thereby opening up opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City to gradually realize its aspiration to become a "Photography City" in the future. The project is expected to become a new cultural and tourist destination, contributing to improving the quality of public spaces, enriching the spiritual life of the people, and promoting the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a modern, creative, compassionate, and livable city.

Launching the Contemporary Art Exhibition House

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports also launched the Contemporary Art Exhibition House at 158 ​​Dong Khoi Street (Saigon Ward) – a pioneering digital technology exhibition model, applying artificial intelligence, multimedia projection, and digital interactive solutions.

The exhibition space showcases the historical journey of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City through vivid images, documents, and digital experiences; it also hosts workshops, seminars, and creative exchanges, contributing to the formation of a typical cultural, technological, and creative destination for the city in the digital age.
