At the Northeast Agricultural and Forestry College, there are nearly 400 students enrolled, the majority of whom are children from ethnic minority communities in mountainous areas. According to the training program, 350 students are registered for boarding, with approximately 60% using the school's canteen for meals.
To ensure the quality of meals, the school administration regularly assigns the Student Affairs Department and the school health department to coordinate and supervise the cafeteria's operations. From food procurement and traceability to processing and sample retention, everything is strictly checked. The school also periodically works with food suppliers and sends staff to conduct on-site inspections to monitor the quality of incoming ingredients.
Mr. Duong Trung Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Principal of the school, said: On average, 150-170 students register for the school's lunch program each day. Therefore, the school pays special attention to investing in facilities and human resources to serve the kitchen; at the same time, it requires strict implementation of food safety regulations, especially the food sample retention process and food origin control. Thanks to this, there have been no food poisoning incidents among students for many years.

Not only schools with communal kitchens, but also units specializing in preparing school lunch meals are proactively improving food safety control procedures. Hung Thinh Trading, Service and Food Processing Joint Stock Company is currently a major provider of school lunch meals in Hoang Que ward. On average, the company provides about 4,500 meals daily to 8 primary schools in Mao Khe, Dong Trieu, An Sinh and Hoang Que wards.

To ensure timely delivery of meals to schools, company workers begin receiving ingredients from suppliers as early as 5:30 AM. After quality checks, the food is processed in a closed, one-way system to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. Once cooked, the meals are portioned, packaged, and transported to schools on schedule.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Director of Hung Thinh Trading, Service and Food Processing Joint Stock Company, all processing ingredients are fresh food with complete invoices and certificates ensuring food safety and hygiene. Each food group has at least two suppliers to ensure a stable supply and improve quality control. In addition, the company also conducts on-site inspections at suppliers to ensure the transparency of the raw material source.

Along with controlling the processing procedures, the unit also strictly adheres to regulations regarding food sample retention. This is considered one of the important solutions to facilitate inspection and traceability in the event of food safety issues.
In reality, ensuring food safety in schools today depends not only on the awareness of meal providers but also requires close coordination between schools, local authorities, and relevant agencies. In particular, inspection and post-inspection activities play a crucial role in detecting and promptly addressing potential food safety risks.
In early May, the inter-agency inspection team No. 3 of the province conducted an on-site inspection at Hung Thinh Food Processing and Trading Service Joint Stock Company, and also cross-checked the provision of school lunch meals to students at Hoang Que Primary School (the school where the company provides meals). Through the inspection, the team noted that both units strictly adhered to regulations on ensuring food safety; fully complying with the "three-step food inspection" process from raw material procurement, preliminary processing, processing, preservation, to transportation and organizing meals for students at the school.

Stricter food safety management in schools not only helps prevent the risk of food poisoning but also contributes to building a safe educational environment, creating peace of mind for parents and students. More importantly, it is also a shared responsibility to protect the health of the younger generation starting from their daily meals.
