- On May 15th, Inspection Team No. 2 of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, led by the head of the Agricultural Extension Center, inspected the implementation of measures to prevent the entry of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) serotype SAT1 virus, and the first phase of vaccination for livestock in 2026 in Yen Phuc and Tan Doan communes.

During the inspection, representatives from the People's Committees of the two communes reported on the implementation of measures to prevent the entry of FMD serotype SAT1 virus and the results of the first round of vaccination for livestock in 2026. Accordingly, the communes have issued directives to implement measures to prevent FMD serotype SAT1 virus. However, vaccination efforts still face many difficulties, and the vaccination rate for some types of vaccines remains low.

Specifically, in Tan Doan commune, the current vaccination rate against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) for buffaloes and cattle has reached 16.39% of the plan; vaccination against African Swine Fever for pigs has reached 36.07% of the plan; and vaccination against rabies for dogs and cats has reached 34.92% of the plan. The commune has also received and distributed 63 liters of disinfectant chemicals to villages to carry out environmental sanitation and disinfection.
In Yen Phuc commune, the vaccination rate against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) for buffaloes and cattle reached 21% of the plan; the vaccination rate against rabies for dogs and cats reached 8% of the plan. Vaccination against African Swine Fever for pigs exceeded the plan by 44%. The commune also carried out environmental disinfection and sterilization over an area of 50,250 m2...
During the inspection, representatives from the communes clarified the causes and difficulties in livestock vaccination work, such as: some livestock farmers not proactively carrying out vaccinations; a shortage of veterinary staff; and a large, scattered geographical area. They also proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness of vaccination work in the future.

Concluding the inspection, the head of the delegation requested that the communes continue to strengthen leadership and guidance in the prevention and control of animal diseases, especially preventing the entry of FMD serotype SAT1; strengthen control over the transportation and circulation of animals and animal products; proactively monitor diseases and develop response plans in case FMD serotype SAT1 occurs.
In addition, communes need to be more decisive in vaccination efforts, stepping up propaganda to help people understand the benefits of vaccination; carrying out disinfection and sterilization work according to the prescribed schedule. At the same time, they should guide people in implementing biosecure livestock farming practices and caring for livestock after vaccination...
Through inspection activities aimed at evaluating the implementation of measures to prevent the entry of FMD serotype SAT1 virus; disease surveillance, control of animal and animal product transportation, and the implementation of the first phase of livestock vaccination in 2026; promptly identifying and resolving difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process, contributing to improving the effectiveness of animal disease prevention and control in the area.

Prior to this, the delegation conducted on-site inspections at several livestock farms in Tan Doan and Yen Phuc communes.
