Behind that reunion lies a challenging verification process, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and dedication to serving the people shown by the local police force.
Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (residing in Ward 41, Quy Nhon commune) and her four young children lived in extremely difficult circumstances, lacking identification documents and unable to determine their legal place of residence. Due to illiteracy and having lost contact with her family since 2015, when she was only 14 years old, she could not accurately recall her hometown, relatives, or other personal information. As a result, her four children were unable to attend school and could not access the state's social welfare policies.

The only information Ms. Phuong could provide was a vague memory of a poor mountainous region, an older sister named Linh, a younger brother named Quan, and a maternal grandfather named Tung.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi My Dung, Deputy Head of Quy Nhon Ward Police, despite the limited and inaccurate information, the unit remained determined not to give up. Officers and soldiers persistently reviewed each file, cross-referenced population data, and proactively coordinated with local police to exchange and verify information. Numerous on-site verification campaigns were also conducted in remote and rural communes.
Through the coordinated application of investigative measures, the police discovered that in Ha Giao village, Canh Lien commune, there was a case of a woman named Dinh Thi Y Lien who went missing in 2015, matching the information gathered.
Through cross-referencing and verification between the Quy Nhon Ward Police and the Canh Lien Commune Police, the results showed that "Nguyen Thi Phuong" is indeed Ms. Dinh Thi Y Lien (born in 2001, of the Bahnar ethnic group, from Canh Lien Commune, Gia Lai Province). At the same time, the police determined that Ms. So Thi Y Binh (born in 1975, residing in Ha Giao Village, Canh Lien Commune) is Ms. Lien's biological mother.
Ms. Binh confirmed that Ms. Lien is her daughter and provided photos and relevant documents to verify her identity and family relationship.
She said that in 2015, due to difficult family circumstances, Lien left home. For more than 10 years, the family searched for her many times but without success. Finding their loved one again after so many years of separation is a great joy, exceeding the family's expectations.

Immediately after identifying Ms. Lien, the Quy Nhon Ward Police promptly guided her through the procedures for registering her residence, collecting biometric data for the issuance of citizen identification cards, and completing the birth registration documents for her four children to ensure they meet the requirements for attending school in the new academic year and receive full social welfare benefits as stipulated.
The responsible and humane actions of the Quy Nhon Ward Police not only helped a family reunite after many years of separation but also contributed to spreading a positive image of the People's Police force with the motto "When the people need help, when the people are in difficulty, the police are there"; at the same time, affirming the core role of the grassroots police force in population management, digital transformation, and ensuring social security in the area.
