Disciplinary reprimand for a forest ranger, transfer the case to the police

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of July 25, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan - Head of the Hue City Forest Protection Department said that the unit had disciplined a local forest ranger who was monitoring coastal protection forests due to lack of responsibility, leading to the exploitation of nearly 2.6 hectares of coastal protection forests in the old Quang Cong commune (now Phong Quang ward).

Forest trees were cut down, mainly planted forests since 2008 under the Sand Protection Forest Planting Project.

Currently, the Head of the Hue City Forest Protection Department has transferred the case file to the Hue City Police for investigation. Previously, Hue Today Online Newspaper reported that on July 2, 2025, local forest rangers discovered that in section 1, sub-area 89, 3.1416 hectares of forest along the coast of An Loc village, old Quang Cong commune (now Phong Quang ward) had been cut down; of which, there were 2.5843 hectares of protective forest and 0.5573 hectares of production forest. A total of 1,461 acacia trees were cut down, mainly forests planted since 2008 under the Sand Protection Forest Planting Project (Project 661).

Although the meeting of the Party Committee of the old Quang Cong commune only agreed to liquidate the production forest area that was broken by the storm, the commune People's Committee later exceeded its authority and sold the protective forest area - an act that was considered serious. The amount of 85 million VND collected from selling the forest was transferred to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the commune People's Committee.
