According to the plan, the mandatory vaccinations to be administered include: vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), lumpy skin disease (LMD), and hemorrhagic septicemia (HS) in buffaloes and cattle; HS, swine fever, and paratyphoid in pigs; avian influenza; and rabies. Immediately after implementation, the vaccination work was organized meticulously and synchronously from the commune to the village level, ensuring continuous guidance from the commune People's Committee and effective coordination between specialized departments.
The implementation strictly adheres to legal regulations and guidelines from higher-level veterinary authorities, ensuring that vaccinations are administered to the correct animals, following proper technical procedures, and are safe for both animals and personnel. The goal is to achieve a minimum vaccination rate of 80% of the total eligible livestock population, while also strengthening monitoring during and after vaccination to promptly address any emerging issues.
In reality, proactive vaccination by livestock farmers has yielded practical results. Ms. Le Thi Sau, a livestock farmer belonging to the Tham Trieu Cooperative in Dong Tam 1 village, said that after the disease outbreak stabilized, her family restocked their herd, raising three more pigs for meat and one sow. To ensure safe farming and prevent dangerous diseases, after the cooperative announced the vaccination program, she proactively registered her family's livestock for vaccination.
"I think that to develop sustainable livestock farming, I and other farmers should strictly adhere to regulations on animal disease prevention and control. Livestock farmers must proactively and voluntarily participate in vaccination to best protect their livestock and poultry," Ms. Sau said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Quang Chau, from Phuong An village, a fairly large-scale duck farmer with a total flock of about 2,000 ducks, has proactively registered for vaccination of his poultry. According to Mr. Chau, proactively registering for vaccination will help protect his family's duck flock more safely against the increasingly complex developments of various diseases.
“The duck breeding farm is a major asset for my family, so I'm always conscious of protecting it by proactively vaccinating against diseases. I think early and sufficient vaccination is the most effective protective measure,” Mr. Chau observed.
To date, Trieu Co commune has completed the first round of vaccinations in 2026 with the following results: 2,600 poultry, 232 buffaloes and cows, and 1,473 pigs. Subsequent vaccination rounds are underway. According to recommendations from veterinary experts, vaccination is one of the best disease prevention measures for livestock and poultry.
When livestock and poultry are properly and fully vaccinated, they develop immunity, proactively preventing the outbreak and spread of diseases, protecting animal health, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and safeguarding human health. Complying with vaccination regulations for livestock and poultry is a mandatory requirement of the State for every individual and organization involved in livestock and poultry farming.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hong Hue, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Co commune, informed: Currently, the total livestock population in the commune is over 3,150 pigs, 836 buffaloes and cattle, and over 226,000 poultry. Although the disease situation is basically stable, the risk remains, therefore vaccination is identified as the most proactive and effective solution to prevent disease, minimize economic losses, and protect public health. Notably, during this period, the People's Committee of the commune is providing 100% of the FMD vaccine for livestock, and is resolutely refusing to consider compensation for losses to households that do not comply with vaccination regulations.
It can be affirmed that vaccinating livestock is not just a simple technical measure but has become a key element in modern livestock farming. Proper and complete vaccination creates an immune "shield," preventing the outbreak and spread of livestock and poultry diseases, protecting food safety and human health. Therefore, each livestock farmer needs to raise their sense of responsibility and proactively participate in complete vaccination, contributing to the stable, sustainable, and safe development of the livestock industry for the community.
