Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, Le Van Luong, said that the movement to encourage registration for organ and tissue donation in Lai Chau province has been actively implemented since 2019, initially receiving support and participation from officials and people of all walks of life in the province. To date, the Red Cross Society has disseminated information and mobilized 2,989 volunteers to register for organ and tissue donation cards through direct and online channels, of which 2,019 volunteers have been issued cards.

Although these results are still modest, they initially demonstrate the attention, leadership, and guidance of all levels and sectors, as well as the dedication and responsibility of officials and members at all levels over the past years. However, alongside the significant achievements in organ transplantation, there are still many difficulties, challenges, and obstacles that have not yet reached a large number of people, such as: There is a shortage of materials for propaganda and mobilization; and the movement to donate tissues and organs is mainly integrated into blood donation campaigns.

Meanwhile, the staff responsible for propaganda work are mostly working on a part-time basis and have not participated in in-depth training courses on knowledge and skills; people's awareness is still limited, religious beliefs, family objections, and the fear of having their bodies intact after death still cause many people to be afraid and hesitant to register.

Comrade Le Van Luong stated that the establishment of the Association for the Promotion of Organ and Tissue Donation in Lai Chau province not only demonstrates our determination to improve the quality of life for the people but also contributes positively to the overall development of the health sector. Therefore, in the coming time, the Association for the Promotion of Organ and Tissue Donation in Lai Chau province will maximize its role in disseminating information, mobilizing support, and encouraging people to participate in organ and tissue donation.

At the same time, we request that all levels, sectors, agencies, units, political -social organizations, religious organizations, professional organizations, officials, civil servants, and members of the armed forces... propagate and encourage their relatives, friends, colleagues, and the people to actively participate in registering to donate tissues and organs, contributing to changing the awareness, attitudes, and behaviors of each citizen to proactively participate in tissue and organ donation in the future.

With the message "Register to donate tissues and organs to save lives - Giving is forever," these golden hearts and noble deeds will be an invaluable source of encouragement, contributing to saving lives and improving the lives of many patients. Therefore, let's all join hands to revive the lives of those who are languishing day by day waiting for tissue and organ transplants and spread the beautiful meaning of registering to donate tissues and organs to everyone in the community in Lai Chau province," Comrade Le Van Luong urged.

The Chairperson of the Vietnam Association for Organ and Tissue Donation, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, delivered a speech at the launching ceremony.

Speaking at the launching ceremony and the presentation of the Decision to establish the Lai Chau branch of the Association for the Promotion of Organ and Tissue Donation in Vietnam, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, President of the Association for the Promotion of Organ and Tissue Donation in Vietnam, stated that the organization of the launching ceremony of the Organ and Tissue Donation Registration Program in Lai Chau province; the Decision to establish the Lai Chau branch of the Association for the Promotion of Organ and Tissue Donation in Vietnam, and the aforementioned events demonstrate the responsibility, compassion, and humanity of the leaders of Lai Chau province, departments, agencies, political and social organizations, especially the Lai Chau Provincial Red Cross Society, and members of the organ and tissue donation movement in the province.

As we know, organ and tissue donation saves lives – "Giving is forever" – is the highest form of altruism. Therefore, registering to donate organs while alive and donating organs and tissues after death is the pinnacle of compassion, as the Buddha pointed out. The Prime Minister registered to donate organs and tissues and launched the organ and tissue donation registration program on May 19, 2014. Therefore, Lai Chau province's organization of the launching ceremony for the Organ and Tissue Donation Registration Program demonstrates responsibility in responding to the Prime Minister's call and also reflects the compassion of organizations and groups, especially the Lai Chau Provincial Red Cross, in donating organs and tissues to help save many patients in the area in the future.

Sharing information at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial Labor Union Hoang Van Trinh said that in recent times, the provincial labor unions at all levels have collaborated with the Lai Chau Provincial Red Cross Society to promote awareness among union members, workers, and employees about donating organs and body parts. This has helped to give hope and nurture life for many patients who are patiently waiting for organ transplants. Proudly, in the past period, 1,524 out of 29,89 union members, workers, and employees in the province registered to participate in organ and body part donation, reaching over 50% of the total number of registered donors in the province.

Currently, the province has 2,019 volunteers who have been issued organ and tissue donation cards through online and in-person registration. Notably, in 2023, in coordination with the Lai Chau Provincial Red Cross Society and the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, they successfully promoted and mobilized support from union members, workers, civil servants, and benefactors throughout the province to support a successful heart transplant for a child of a union member in the health sector.

Upholding the beautiful tradition of "mutual support and compassion" of the Vietnamese people, the spirit of voluntarily registering to donate tissues and organs to save lives by each union member, worker, and employee throughout the province will become a shining example to be replicated in the community. At the same time, we call upon all union members, workers, and employees, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, age, or whether they live in urban or rural areas, remote or border regions, to voluntarily register to donate tissues and organs in the spirit of "Giving is forever," in order to rekindle hope and create life, where one person can save many lives.
