Average interest rates tend to increase across most key maturities

Compared to last week, the average interbank interest rates for overnight, 1-week and 1-month terms increased by 1.53%/year, 0.17%/year and 0.18%/year, respectively, to 4.07%/year, 4.26%/year and 4.48%/year.

According to information from the State Bank, last week, the transaction turnover in the interbank market in VND reached approximately VND 2,530,775 billion, an average of VND 506,155 billion/day, a decrease of VND 90,464 billion/day compared to the previous week.

USD transaction turnover converted to VND during the week reached about 626,316 billion VND, an average of 125,263 billion VND/day, an increase of 12,185 billion VND/day compared to the previous week.

By term, VND transactions mainly focus on overnight term (93% of total VND transaction turnover) and 1-week term (2% of total VND transaction turnover).

For USD trading, the tenors with the largest turnover are overnight and 1-week tenors with proportions of 88% and 8% respectively.

Regarding average interest rates, transactions in VND tended to increase in most key terms compared to the previous week. Specifically, average interest rates for overnight, 1-week and 1-month terms increased by 1.53%/year, 0.17%/year and 0.18%/year to 4.07%/year, 4.26%/year and 4.48%/year, respectively.

For USD transactions, the average interest rates for all terms tended to fluctuate little, decreasing slightly compared to the previous week. Specifically, the average interest rates for overnight and 1-month terms decreased by 0.01%/year and 0.11%/year to 4.28%/year and 4.38%/year, respectively. The average interest rate for 1-week terms remained unchanged compared to the previous week and remained at 4.31%/year.
