Rubber: Low economic efficiency

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province, there are currently about 80,000 hectares of rubber plantations in Lam Dong province. Of these, about 45,000 hectares are in Binh Thuan (formerly), about 26,000 hectares in Dak Nong (formerly), and about 9,000 hectares in Lam Dong (formerly).

Recently, Ms. Cao Thi Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province, stated: Of the approximately 80,000 hectares of rubber plantations in Lam Dong, the majority are small-scale plantations. According to assessments, rubber is primarily grown on unsuitable land, and the business cycle is only 6 years, resulting in low economic efficiency. Currently, one hectare of rubber yields an income of 23-35 million VND, lower than other crops.

Therefore, allowing the conversion of rubber plantation land to industrial park or cluster investment purposes, in accordance with the planning, or adjusting and supplementing the planning and land use plan for rubber plantation land to industrial park or cluster land, would be more effective.
