According to experts, the focus of the current development phase is on core technologies, source technologies, and products bearing Vietnamese brands. This is not only an immediate requirement but also a long-term strategy to enhance the self-reliance and self-sufficiency of the economy in the context of a world entering a fierce competition in science, technology, and innovation.

Experience shows that in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the nation that masters technology will have the opportunity to make a strong breakthrough. Research centers, universities, and technology companies not only play a role in receiving and transferring technology but must also become cradles of innovation, producing new technologies, new products, and new business models. This will create higher added value for the economy and elevate the nation's position on the international stage.

One of the notable highlights is the requirement to focus on core technologies, source technologies, and products bearing Vietnamese brands. This shows that the development mindset has undergone a fundamental shift: it's not just about adopting or applying technology, but about gradually mastering, innovating, and creating new values.

In particular, in the digital age, many important fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, big data, cloud computing, and new materials are heavily dependent on each nation's technological capabilities. Therefore, mastering technology not only has economic significance but is also directly related to national security, strategic autonomy, and international standing. If a country relies entirely on external technology, it will face numerous risks as global supply chains fluctuate or as strategic competition among major powers intensifies.

Furthermore, the spirit of "seeing things through, achieving results, and producing concrete products" needs to be strongly disseminated throughout society. The true value of science and technology must be measured by useful products, solutions that help address practical problems, and concrete contributions to socio-economic growth.

Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in national science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation clearly identifies science and technology as the key driving force of development. This is a decisive factor for the country's rapid and sustainable development in the new era.

Development through innovation

For universities, the requirements are becoming increasingly clear. In the new era, universities are not only places for training human resources but must also become centers for research, innovation, and technology transfer. Scientific research needs to be closely linked to the needs of the market, businesses, and society. The success of a research project is not only judged by the number of scientific publications but also by the number of inventions, useful solutions, and technological products that are commercialized and make a practical contribution to the country's development.
