Lam Dong: 5 fishing boats sink due to heavy rain and flooding.

On the morning of October 31st, in the Cai River area, in Ward 2, Phu Thuy commune (Lam Dong province), a fishing boat with a capacity of 270 HP was submerged by a large flood.

The sunken fishing vessel bears the registration number BTh 8077 TS, and its owner is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc De, born in 1977, residing in Quarter 2, Phu Thuy Ward.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc De, when he went to check this morning, the fishing boat was anchored normally. But at 8 a.m., the strong floodwaters on the Cai River sank the boat. The boat, BTh 80776 TT, was invested in by his wife about two years ago, at a cost of 600 million VND.

Upon receiving the report, the Thanh Hai border guard station, along with supporting forces, deployed additional large vessels to prevent the sinking fishing boat from being swept away by the floodwaters. For now, the only option is to prevent the boat from drifting away until the floodwaters recede and the situation stabilizes, at which point salvage operations can be carried out.

Lieutenant Colonel Vo Duy Thanh, Head of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station, said: "The entire Phu Thuy ward has 480 fishing boats. Currently, the border guard force is urgently reminding boat owners to reinforce their mooring ropes to ensure the safety of their property amidst the strong currents of floodwaters on the Cai River."

Earlier, on the evening of October 30th, due to the impact of high tides and large waves, the coastal commune of Phan Rí Cửa ( Lam Đồng province) recorded four fishing boats belonging to local fishermen being sunk by large waves.
