Lam Dong: 5 fishing boats sank due to floods

On the morning of October 31, in the Cai River area, in Ward 2, Phu Thuy Ward (Lam Dong), a 270 CV fishing boat was sunk by a large flood.

The sunken fishing boat has registration number BTh 8077 TS, the owner is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc De, born in 1977, Ward 2, Phu Thuy Ward.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc De, this morning, when he went down to check, the fishing boat was still anchored normally. But at 8 am, the strong flood water on Cai River sank the fishing boat into the river. The BTh 80776 TT boat was invested by his wife about 2 years ago, with a value of 600 million VND.

Upon receiving the news, the Qinghai Border Guard Station, along with support forces, used more large ships to prevent the fishing boat from sinking. For now, they can only keep the boat from drifting, until the floodwaters recede and stabilize, then they can proceed with the salvage.

Lieutenant Colonel Vo Duy Thanh, Head of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station, said: Phu Thuy Ward has 480 fishing boats. Currently, the border guards are urgently reminding boat owners to reinforce their anchors to ensure their assets in the current situation of strong floodwaters on Cai River.

Previously, on the evening of October 30, due to the influence of high tides and big waves, the coastal commune of Phan Ri Cua ( Lam Dong province) recorded 4 fishing boats of fishermen being sunk by big waves.
