Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health has just issued a document to strengthen the fight against fake drugs and health protection foods to the entire local health sector, district and city health departments, and retail drug distribution and trading establishments in the area.
Accordingly, the Department of Health directed medical examination and treatment facilities to review the drug procurement and supply process; ensure that the supplied drugs are licensed and supplied by legal pharmaceutical businesses, with full invoices and documents. In case of detecting suspicious signs of abnormalities in drugs, drugs that have not been licensed for circulation, immediately seal, stop using and report to the competent authorities for inspection and handling.
The Department of Health Inspectorate coordinates with functional units to step up inspections of drug and health food business and distribution establishments. The focus is on checking the origin and source of products, the implementation of good distribution practices (GDP) and good retail practices (GPP).
The Department of Health also directed the organization of a hotline to receive feedback on counterfeit drugs and drugs of unknown origin to promptly coordinate inspection, trace origin and strictly handle violations.
The provincial Center for Disease Control was assigned to strengthen propaganda, advising people to only buy medicine at legal establishments, not to use drugs and health protection foods of unknown origin. Meanwhile, the Lam Dong Provincial Center for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Testing increased sampling, testing, and quality monitoring to promptly detect fake and poor quality products.
The Health Departments of districts and cities continue to coordinate with functional forces to regularly inspect pharmaceutical retail establishments in the area, tightening management of drug and health food business activities.
