Previously, on Facebook, a video clip was circulated reflecting a business household on the coast of Cua Viet selling a plate of seafood fried rice for 200,000 VND.

Through investigation, the above business household is Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dieu, owner of Bien Goi seafood restaurant in Cua Viet commune. According to Ms. Dieu, at around 9:00 p.m. on June 28, a group of 6 tourists came to the restaurant to eat. It was late at night so most of the restaurants were closed. When talking, the restaurant owner clearly announced the prices of each dish. Specifically, she announced that a large purple clam dish costs 150,000 VND/bowl, a large plate of seafood fried rice costs 200,000 VND and the customers agreed to order the dishes.

After serving the food, the group of guests wanted to return it, but she explained that the fried rice dish included 4 large shrimps, sliced squid fried with rice, served in a large plate and already prepared, so it could not be canceled, otherwise they could use the take-away package and pay for it.

After some back and forth, the group agreed to pay 350,000 VND and take the food home. At that time, the group showed signs of having alcohol in their system, so they argued. The next day, a member of the group posted a video on social media claiming that the restaurant was “overcharging”.

According to Mr. TQ, the owner of the social media account that posted the video, he wanted to return the seafood fried rice dish because it was of poor quality and was not accepted, so he posted it on social media out of frustration. After seeing that the post affected the restaurant's business, Mr. TQ proactively deleted the post. However, many social media accounts shared and spread the video clip without full information.

Chairman of Cua Viet Commune People's Committee Le Van Thong said that upon receiving information about the incident, the locality is verifying and clarifying to avoid affecting the reputation of other businesses, especially during the peak tourist season . In case of any problems arising when traveling to Cua Viet beach, the local government hopes to receive feedback for timely resolution, avoiding misunderstandings and negative impacts on business activities here.
