Three fishermen suffered decompression sickness and required emergency medical attention after diving 14 meters to catch fish.

On September 27, the medical station on Sinh Ton Dong Island, Truong Sa District (Khanh Hoa province) announced that it had received and treated three fishermen suffering from decompression sickness due to deep diving.

Earlier that morning, while fishing near Sinh Ton Dong Island, Nguyen Duy Phong (21 years old), Do Thanh Duong (20 years old), and Tran Huu Nghia (21 years old, all residing in Phu Quy district, Binh Thuan province) dived 14 meters deep into the sea, about 5 nautical miles from Sinh Ton Dong Island.

Upon surfacing, all three exhibited symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, and pain in their ears, chest, abdomen, and legs. They received care from the crew members but their condition did not improve.

The three patients were then taken by fishing boat to the Sinh Ton Dong Island Clinic for emergency treatment and were diagnosed by doctors with acute decompression sickness type 2 due to deep diving.

Doctors have given the patient oxygen, intravenous fluids, and medication according to the prescribed regimen. Currently, doctors are continuing treatment and closely monitoring the patient's health.

Tuổi Trẻ Online reported that on September 25, while fishing in the waters about 100 nautical miles from Son Ca Island, Nguyen Huu Thanh (34 years old, a fisherman on a fishing boat from Binh Dinh province) met with an accident after diving into deep water.

Mr. Thanh dived 20 meters deep to remove the fishing net. When he surfaced, he felt cold all over his body, fainted for 15 minutes, experienced chest pain, and lost sensation in both legs.

Later, Mr. Thanh was transported by fishing boat to the Son Ca Island Medical Clinic for emergency treatment at 11:30 PM on September 26th.
