The ELG 2025 International Conference is an annual academic forum connecting researchers, scholars, experts, and policymakers from both within and outside the country to exchange research findings, ideas, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
With 190 papers submitted from numerous countries, the Organizing Committee selected 130 to be presented in 32 parallel discussion sessions held over two days, August 1st and 2nd. The sessions focused on global issues, providing opportunities to expand expertise, share academic values, and build long-term international cooperation networks. The conference particularly emphasized the role of digital transformation in sustainable development and enhancing community resilience.
Professor Su Dinh Thanh, Director of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference.
In his opening remarks, Professor Su Dinh Thanh, Director of UEH, remarked that this year's theme is both timely and of great significance.
“We are living in a world that is changing faster than ever before, facing many challenges such as climate change and rapid digital transformation. These issues not only affect Southeast Asia but also have a global impact. This event brings together researchers, lecturers, and policymakers from many countries to share, learn, and find solutions to create positive change for the economy and society,” he emphasized.
At the conference, Professor Pamela Jagger (University of Michigan, USA) proposed building a reliable data system and local governance capacity to enhance disaster response capabilities, especially in developing countries. Professor Carlos Chávez (University of Talca, Chile) emphasized the role of law and technology in protecting common resources, while Professor Jeannie Marie Paterson (University of Melbourne) focused on the importance of transparency and legal accountability in digital transformation.
Professor Pamela Jagger of the University of Michigan emphasized the importance of building data systems.
The workshop also discussed post-crisis economic recovery, public finance, economic behavior, institutional capacity, and data analytics tools for policy planning.
ELG 2025 continues to affirm its role as a bridge between academia and policy practice, contributing to the sustainable development of Southeast Asia in a volatile global context.
