With just a smartphone and a touch, the wireless connectivity technology (NFC) of the "I Love Vietnam" project will open up a digital travel exploration space for tourists. The project, implemented at tourist destinations nationwide, including Bac Lieu, has been helping to spread love for the country and connect the present generation with Vietnamese cultural and historical values.
TOURISM AMBASSADORS
For over two weeks since the installation of NFC chip boards from the "We Love Vietnam" project, the Southern Traditional Music and Cao Van Lau Memorial Area has attracted a large number of visitors. Here, tourists can not only learn about the formation and development of the traditional music heritage and be moved by the story behind the creation of the song "Da Co Hoai Lang," but also enjoy experiencing technology that connects visitors with local tourism.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, a tourist from Hai Duong province, recently made his first trip to Bac Lieu. The Western-like beauty of the offshore wind farm, the unique architecture of the theater shaped like three conical hats, the legend of the Bac Lieu Prince, and the heartfelt lyrics: “From the general's wife/ With a sharp sword, he sets off on his journey…” left him with many beautiful impressions of this land. In particular, experiencing the “I Love Vietnam So Much” project helped him better appreciate the cultural and historical values of Bac Lieu through vivid images, sounds, information, and applications. Notably, the application also integrates a virtual assistant software to help Mr. Cong answer all his travel information needs, such as directions, places to eat and have fun, and reputable restaurants and hotels…
Mr. Cong expressed: “With the NFC chip-equipped board, I can access information related to tourism products, share check-in photos, and leave reviews about tourist destinations. This is a great application that helps increase the connection between tourists and local culture and history. The convenience of the application has turned tourists into tourism ambassadors, working together to promote and spread the image of local tourism throughout the country and to friends around the world.”

MULTIPLYING LOVE FOR THE COUNTRY
Recently, the Nhan Dan Newspaper held a launch ceremony for the "I Love Vietnam" project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). With its widespread impact, the project has installed nearly 200 NFC chip-equipped boards in more than 60 provinces and cities nationwide. Bac Lieu has three tourist destinations where the project has been implemented: the Memorial Area for Southern Vietnamese Traditional Music and the musician Cao Van Lau, the Cao Van Lau Theater, and the Bac Lieu Prince's House complex tourist area.
The project aims to create an initiative that applies wireless connectivity technology combined with digital data on tourism. From there, it spreads love for the homeland and promotes the image of cultural, historical, and tourist destinations throughout the country. With just a tap of their phone on the chip-equipped board, tourists can access the digital space with many convenient features such as check-in, AI-powered tour guides, information retrieval, personalized itinerary design, points accumulation and redemption, and digital certificates.
Ms. Luong Minh Thu, a tour guide at the Southern Traditional Music and Cao Van Lau Memorial Area, shared: “Since installing the chip-based board for the ‘I Love Vietnam’ project, I often introduce and guide tourists on how to use this application to have more new experiences during their trip. With the feature of receiving feedback from tourists, we consider this a useful information channel to gradually improve the quality of our services.”
Launched during the historic month of April, the project has contributed to fostering patriotism. It also addresses the growing demand for personalized travel experiences, connecting the physical and digital realms. The project is not just an experiential journey; it also helps shape digital citizenship, enabling today's generation to understand and preserve traditional values through technology.
