Lang Chanh applies digital transformation to boost consumption of OCOP products

Muong Deng Mac Khen salt of Yen Thang Agricultural Service Cooperative, Yen Thang commune.

Chau Lang longan candy of Lang Chanh longan candy cooperative (Lang Chanh) was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product in 2022. Deputy Director of Chau Lang longan candy cooperative Mai Thi Hoa said: Every year, the cooperative produces about 10 tons of candy. In order to sell the products, the cooperative has made efforts to find and use sales channels. In addition to using traditional sales channels (customers come to buy products directly at the cooperative's points of sale in Lang Chanh town), members of the cooperative also use digital platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, TikTok to introduce, promote and sell products... Thanks to that, 100% of the cooperative's products are consumed, of which about 35% of products are consumed via Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, contributing to bringing in revenue and creating stable jobs for 12 workers, with an income of 5 - 6 million VND/person/month.

Thanks to the effective use of sales channels, Muong Deng Mac Khen salt of Yen Thang Agricultural Service Cooperative, Yen Thang commune consumes about 300 boxes (each box weighs 0.2 kg) and 2 - 3 quintals of bagged salt per month.

Director of the Cooperative Ha Thi Xem said: The cooperative's mac khen salt has achieved 3-star OCOP product status since 2023. After being recognized, I and the members of the cooperative were invited to participate in training courses on knowledge and skills to carry out the steps of introducing, promoting and selling products on digital platforms organized by the district and provincial New Rural Coordination Office. Since participating in the training courses, the members of the cooperative have learned to skillfully and effectively use digital platforms such as e-commerce platforms (Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Sen Do...) or social networks (facebook, zalo, tiktok) to promote, introduce and sell products. Thereby, the cooperative's mac khen salt is now known and ordered by not only consumers in the district and province, but also customers outside the province who order from several quintals each time, even 7-8 quintals of bagged salt at a time.

In addition to Mac Khen salt, Yen Thang Agricultural Service Cooperative also produces buffalo meat, smoked pork and Muong Deng wine (made from Cay Noi sticky rice). Of which, about 70% of products are sold through digital platforms, contributing to creating stable jobs for 14 members, with an income of 7 million VND/person/month.

Although Anh Duong dried vermicelli products in Tan Phuc commune were only recognized as 3-star OCOP products at the end of 2024, they have been known and ordered by many customers inside and outside the province through digital platforms. The owner of the facility, Le Van Tinh, said: Each month, the facility produces 3.6 tons of dried vermicelli, of which up to 80% are sold via Facebook, Zalo and TikTok, the rest are sold directly through grocery stores in the commune. Thanks to online sales, the family's dried vermicelli facility has been able to survive and create stable jobs for 5 workers, with an income of 5 - 6 million VND/person/month.

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Chanh district Nguyen Ngoc Thao said: Currently, the locality has 10 3-star OCOP products. In order for products to reach consumers, in addition to selling through traditional channels, the district has recently coordinated with relevant departments and branches to organize training sessions to equip them with knowledge and skills to introduce and promote their products on e-commerce platforms. At the same time, guide OCOP subjects to create videos , live streams... on digital platforms. By doing this, up to now, 100% of products have been posted on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Sen Do... However, there are still many products, especially new products that have achieved OCOP by the end of 2024, that have not been sold by subjects using digital platforms, leading to difficulties in product consumption.

Regarding this situation, Mr. Thao said that it is partly due to the limited ability of entities to access digital transformation. Therefore, in addition to continuing to promote digital transformation, the district will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to organize training sessions, equipping entities with knowledge and skills to introduce, promote and sell products on digital platforms.
