A variety of activities for children

When the buzzing of cicadas signals the arrival of summer, it's time for children to temporarily put aside their books and enjoy days of rest and fun. Faced with choices for summer activities for her child, Ms. Le Thi Quynh from Hac Thanh ward decided to enroll her child in the "Military Semester" program organized by the Provincial Youth Union. Ms. Quynh shared: "I chose the 'Military Semester' program because I see it not only as a reputable and beneficial playground but also as a healthy, attractive, and effective educational environment for young people. Participating in the program, the children experience and learn valuable lessons about discipline, self-awareness, independence, honesty, courage, creativity, sharing, and the will to strive for success in life through morning exercises; physical games; forums for building awareness and character; cultural exchange activities, sports activities, and outdoor excursions..."

Not only Ms. Quynh, but many other parents share the view that children's summer doesn't necessarily need to be filled with academic subjects. Instead, the focus should be on physical safety, developing soft skills, and emotional balance.

With the concern of parents, over the years, along with various levels and sectors, youth organizations in the province have continued to implement many solutions to care for and protect children, especially during the summer. Accordingly, since the beginning of summer, youth organizations at all levels have organized many programs and classes for young people with diverse activities that stimulate creativity. In addition to models maintained for many years such as military training semesters, youth summer camps, career guidance playgrounds, etc., many localities have effectively implemented classes to improve skills and prevent accidents for children. Notably, in Tho Xuan commune, the youth organization coordinated a program to raise awareness about the benefits and harms of using social media; and to prevent the harmful effects of stimulants and addictive substances on students and young people. In Quan Son commune, the youth union is coordinating the opening of a "Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Skills Education" class for teenagers in 2025... The course aims to provide children with knowledge and skills in swimming, safe swimming, and recognizing dangers in the water environment. During the course, the children will be equipped with basic swimming knowledge and skills, such as: breathing exercises, self-floating underwater, breaststroke technique, first aid methods for victims, and how to handle dangerous situations in the water.

According to the Provincial Youth Union, this year's summer activities for children will be organized with diverse, practical, effective, and safe programs. The summer activities will run from May 31st to August 31st, aiming to promote the role of local youth union branches, officials, members, and young people in organizing volunteer activities linked to summer activities for children in residential areas. Notably, the focus will be on strengthening communication, warning, and guiding children on the appropriate use of smart technology devices for learning, recreation, and healthy entertainment. The program will also include organizing Youth Union meetings, disseminating information, and educating about revolutionary traditions and the moral principles of "remembering the source when drinking water" and "showing gratitude" through meaningful actions. Furthermore, it will foster reading habits, develop a reading culture, and implement experiential programs.

In addition, youth organizations at the ward and commune levels coordinate with schools and educational institutions to hand over, receive, and manage children living in their families and residential areas. They mobilize resources to build and renovate recreational and entertainment facilities for children. At the same time, they support and assist children from poor families, families of war veterans, and children with particularly difficult circumstances, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to study and develop comprehensively.
