Ho Chi Minh City leaders work with French CMA CGM Group

(HTV) - This afternoon, comrade Nguyen Van Tho - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee had a working session with representatives of the French CMA CGM Group to discuss cooperation plans in the field of seaports in the city in the new development space after the merger.

CMA CGM is a French corporation operating in the fields of sea, road, air transport, logistics, and communications with more than 160,000 employees worldwide.

The group representative shared that in more than 35 years of presence in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam in general, the Group has seen the dynamic development of the economic locomotive city, especially appreciating the growth potential of the megacity Ho Chi Minh City after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. That is the reason why CMA CGM wishes to learn more and discuss cooperation opportunities with Ho Chi Minh City, specifically in the development plan of ICD Long Binh inland port and Cai Mep port.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho acknowledged the goodwill of cooperation of the CMA CGM Group, and shared that after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City possesses strong development potential in seaports, logistics, and industry. This is completely in line with the expectations set by the group.

Continuing to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City for long-term plans, especially in the direction of green and sustainability, will contribute to further promoting the bilateral trade relationship between Vietnam and France, which is expected to reach a turnover of up to 1 billion USD in 2024.
