The Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed localities in the North Central region and some neighboring provinces to urgently stockpile essential goods, ensure supply and prevent shortages and unreasonable price increases when storm No. 5 causes very heavy rain lasting for many days, with the risk of flooding and isolating many areas.

On the afternoon of August 25, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) issued an urgent dispatch to the Departments of Industry and Trade of the following provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang , Quang Ngai and Gia Lai to deploy emergency response to storm No. 5.

Accordingly, localities must focus on directing drastic, timely and effective measures to prevent and respond to floods, especially ensuring the supply of goods, food and provisions to serve the people, especially in areas at risk of being isolated.

Departments of Industry and Trade urge businesses, supermarkets, and petroleum traders to proactively supply and stockpile essential goods such as food, beverages, gasoline, roofing sheets, and steel sheets.

On August 25, storm No. 5 caused heavy rain and strong winds in the North Central region, causing much initial damage.

At the same time, the departments coordinate with the supermarket system to transfer goods from neighboring localities to the storm-affected areas to avoid shortages. The list, quantity, preservation, transportation and distribution methods must be fully prepared to be ready to bring goods to the market when natural disasters isolate the area.

At the same time, market management forces in localities must regularly monitor developments, strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle violations, especially speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases for essential goods and construction materials.

The departments implement the "4 on-site" motto, update and report on supply and demand, prices, distribution networks, and organize timely sales under safe conditions to best serve people's needs during complex natural disasters.
