Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nam (right) - an elderly person in Phu Luong village, Van Loc commune, is a shining example for everyone to follow.
Enthusiastic, dynamic, friendly, that was my first impression when I met Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nam, an elderly person in Phu Luong village, Van Loc commune. When talking about her, the villagers all gave compliments and admiration for having a happy family, successful children and well-behaved, studious grandchildren.
Sharing her experience in building a happy family, Mrs. Nam said that in life, parents must be exemplary in every word and deed, living in harmony with relatives as well as those living around them to set an example for their children to follow. In the family, in addition to teaching their children to study well, parents must be the ones to guide and harmoniously resolve relationships between family members, live with superiors and subordinates, and always respect and give in to each other.
Not only successful in raising her children, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam is also a typical example of a senior citizen who is good at business . At the age of 63, she is still working hard in the gold and silver business, amusement park and often sets aside a portion of her profits to support and help those in difficult circumstances.
“When I participate in social activities, I feel healthier and happier. My husband and children always support my work, creating favorable conditions for me to pursue this passion,” Ms. Nam added.
Just like that, for many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam has always been devoted to social work. As Vice President of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association, Chairwoman of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of the old Hau Loc district, Ms. Nam has always been a pioneer in activities. From 2002 to now, her family has supported the work of promoting education and talent in the old Hau Loc district with more than 2.6 billion VND and 1.2 billion VND for the charity shelter, building solidarity houses. Her family also sponsored 4 children in difficult circumstances in the program "Godmothers share love"; supported Tet for the poor, children in difficult circumstances to continue going to school from 40 - 50 million VND/year. Every year, her family also gives gifts and cash with a total cost of nearly 100 million VND to encourage and congratulate children with high achievements in studying...
As for Mr. Cao Dang Quy, an elderly person in Hoa Son residential group, Sam Son ward, in a conversation with us, he said that after getting married, his married life encountered many difficulties. Therefore, since 1985, he started purchasing seafood and realized that the demand for seafood consumption was increasing. In 1990, with his savings and additional loans, he rented a space on Thanh Nien street to sell fresh seafood to serve tourists . During peak periods, his family sold 1 ton of seafood per day to tourists, with a revenue of nearly 1 billion VND per month.
Over the past 35 years, in business activities, his family has always put prestige first in selling fresh, delicious seafood, ensuring food safety and hygiene. At Quy Son Hotel and Quy Son Restaurant, the staff always have a civilized, friendly, enthusiastic attitude towards customers and reasonable prices, so the number of customers coming to buy and stay at the hotel is increasing. Currently, his family provides jobs for 35 workers with an average income of 8 - 15 million VND/person/month.
Not only is Mr. Quy good at economics, he also actively participates in contributing to the activities of the elderly as well as in the locality. “I myself have also experienced difficult and hard times, so I always understand the hardships of the less fortunate. Therefore, when my family's economy was stable, for many years I have helped poor families in the locality with an amount of 20 - 30 million VND/year.
With their will, determination to overcome difficulties, and enthusiastic working spirit, being exemplary in movements, great elders like Mrs. Nam, Mr. Quy and many other elderly people not only do well in business, but they also always have compassion shown through many noble deeds and gestures, worthy of being shining examples for their children and grandchildren to follow.
