Ho Chi Minh City leaders visit outstanding artists

On the morning of October 17, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, representing the City's leaders, visited and presented gifts to outstanding artists of the City.

Also participating in the delegation were comrades: Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Screenwriter Duong Cam Thuy, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association; Writer Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association... and representatives of professional associations and young musicians.

At Thi Nghe Nursing Center, Gia Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc visited the health, encouraged the spirit, and listened to the emotional sharing and thoughts of veteran artists: Huynh Thanh Tra, Le Trung Can (Mac Can), Tran Thi Hien (Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien), Nguyen Thi Dang (Ngoc Dang), Nguyen Van Son (Lam Son).

The veteran artists expressed their joy and excitement at the attention of the City leaders and cultural agencies and departments; considering it a great source of spiritual motivation, helping the artists live a peaceful, happy and warm life.

At her home in Thanh My Tay ward, People's Artist Tra Giang was moved to welcome the City leaders' visit and happily shared many memories associated with cinema and painting.

After years of being attached to the art of cinema, having a brilliant acting career, leaving behind impressive roles, when she got older, People's Artist Tra Giang chose painting as a joy, a gentle, simple happiness, but filled with colors, emotions, and thoughts of her own for life, for people, for the beautiful scenery of her homeland.

People's Artist Tra Giang emotionally shared: "Over the past 50 years, I have always lived and been attached to my love of art. Although I do not appear in public as often as when I worked in the film industry, I try to paint every day, first to create joy for myself and then through painting auctions to have funds for charity and community activities."

Closing the friendly conversation, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc wished the talented female artist to always be happy and healthy, to continue to create and spread more beautiful and meaningful works of art to everyone.

Musician Pham Minh Tuan (residing in Hiep Binh Chanh ward) is still very healthy and clear-minded at the age of 83. Every day, he still nurtures many sudden emotions that he receives from life, to cherish and write music, actively participates in movements to compose new songs, enthusiastically contributes his thoughts, feelings and aspirations to develop the city's culture and arts in each musical composition that he is passionate about.

Since his youth, musician Pham Minh Tuan has been a soldier and a famous musician. He composed many songs that have touched the hearts of music lovers of many generations such as: Unforgettable Song, Country, Crossing the River, Aspiration, Front Footprints, Spring from Oil Wells, Spring Train Track, City of Love and Memory... Besides composing songs, he also wrote music for films, dramas, and reformed opera... He joined the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam since 1960 and held many important positions in the music and cultural industry.

Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc acknowledged the proposals and wishes of the veteran soldier and musician who is passionate about the cultural and artistic life of the City. He wished the talented musician good health, always happy, full of positive energy, nurturing his emotions to compose new songs in the new era, the era of the country's rise, strength and prosperity.

On this occasion, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc and the delegation visited female director and writer Xuan Phuong at her home. In the cozy living room, she shared a lot of information about her daily life and work. At the age of 96, she is still working continuously, especially, she is preparing to complete the memoir Calling the Film Life .

On the same afternoon, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders visited poet Le Giang in Thu Dau Mot ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The visit and gift-giving activities are an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to recognize and express gratitude for the contributions of artists in general and artists who participated in the revolution, artists who won the State Prize, Ho Chi Minh Prize, People's Artist, Meritorious Artist, and who have worked and contributed to the development of literature and art in the City over the past 50 years.

The trip is also an opportunity for today's young generation to express their love, respect, and gratitude to their predecessors who are veteran authors, artists, musicians, etc. It is an opportunity for veteran artists and the city's young generation to review traditions and understand more about the positive and valuable contributions of many generations of artists to the country's literature and arts.
