Lao Cai has 5 schools and 39 school locations allowing students to stay home to avoid floods.

Specifically, Bat Xat district has the most facilities that have to temporarily suspend learning, including 4 schools: Quang Kim Primary School, Quang Kim Secondary School, Phin Ngan Kindergarten and Phin Ngan Secondary School.

The reason is that on the morning of October 1, many areas in Quang Kim commune and the road connecting Quang Kim - Phin Ngan were deeply flooded, making it unsafe for teachers and students to travel, so the entire school was forced to close.

In addition, 33 schools scattered throughout most of Bat Xat's communes also had to stop teaching and learning due to traffic disruption, rising stream water affecting travel, the risk of landslides arising, or continued landslides at old locations causing unsafe conditions.

Some other localities of Lao Cai such as Lao Cai city and 2 districts of Bac Ha and Si Ma Cai also have 7 schools that have to let students stay home. In particular, Quan Ho Than Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities in Si Ma Cai has to let all students stay home due to the risk of landslides on high hills.

Schools that have closed their students have notified parents and reported the situation to the authorities and management agencies. When the situation is safe again, educational activities will continue to be maintained.
